I just took off the muffler on my 2001 and there is very little sound difference. I was wondering if i gutted out the resonator if it would make it louder? or if i should take that off also. thanks

If you have a true resonator, there should be nothing to "gut out. " You can drop a tennis ball through the stock, unmolested resonator. If you are looking inside the thing you identify as the resonator and cannot see through it, you probably have a catalytic converter. In the case of a converter, only one rule applies. The cat has to die!

When I straightpiped my 01 I removed both the mufler and resonator. After the first pull, just the resonator went back on. Inside the cab with the windows up with only a resonator it does almost sound stock but outside I find it sounds nice and loud. Without the resonator it is louder but the dreaded drone for me is totally unbareable! I measured over 105 DB in the cab totally straightpiped. If you do take it off to see how it sounds, tru to save it cause probably you'll put it back on. My . 02$

Good luck, JC
