Resonator or Cat?

I got into a friendly arguement with the local muffler guy. Does my 2000 have a resonator or catyltic converter? I guess it is street legal to remove a resonator but the removal of a cat carries a fine of a bazillion dollars the way this guy talked. I have the muffler off but I am going for that Freightline sound.

I removed that silencer from my turbo you gotta love that SSSSWWWWWEEEEEEEEEooww

24v do not have cats, just the 12v have cats.

Your friendly local muffler guy would never touch my truck. He does not know his resonator from a cat.
