2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission resonator question

hey everyone, this is my first post but i'm on my second CTD with about 210,000 total miles of experience so far. within the next week i am going to cut my muffler off and possibly the resonator. i was wondering what purpose the resonator serves, if i will see a difference in power and egt's, and how much difference in noise will there be between no mufller and no muffler and resonator. thanks for the help.

On a stock engine and a straight pipe, I got alot of drone. After some BOMBs it was fine, then I put stacks on and the drone came back. I reinstalled the resonator, drone gone. The resonator is straight through, and is still loud, just removes the drone in certain instainces. As far as power, didn't notice any differance. EGT's well, the straight pipe was on before the gauge was, so I can't compare. Maybee someone has though, and will chime in.
