What the XXXX is wrong with people

427' Ice Carousel Created at Long Lake!!!

I toured that plane down at boeing field. Its amazing how small it is compared to modern aircraft.

We had some 747 command ships land at Loring in the day and the B-52 looked like a F-16 next to it' But in the day they were the top of the line.

David, I may have to visit a customer up to the old Loring base. If I do I'll shoot some pictures for you. Somewhere up there they are "Rehabbing" MBTA transit buses.....

That would be great Mike. I was there around 2000ish looking over the vacant flight line with tears in my eyes knowing what it once was. They had pretty much mowed down all the enlisted base housing :{.

What a great effort these guys made to honor these historic airplanes. We have to get back down to Pima one of these winters. Went four or five years ago. We have visited several air museums in recent years in Ohio, Arizona and Washington State. Going to San Diego next month and we will do the Navy carrier museum there.

RC model of a Standard J1 that my brother built is on display at Boeing Museum in Seattle. He flew it for a movie about the history of Wien Air Alaska years ago.

If Possible Mike I would like to see what Caribou & Presque Isle look like now.

A lot of horse and buggy traffic. A group of Amish moved in a few decades ago and have managed to do fairly well. It seems they bought farm land up when years of poor potato crops put some farmers in a bind.

When I was stationed there Caribou had 1 Red light. In 2000ish I saw at least 2 and there was some other road differences that I really cannot remember. Getting old stinks.

Nice looking photo of one of the Air Force One jet's but I thought you were going to show the air plane that president Truman used as Air Force One a Douglas LIFTMASTER that is on display at Pima Air Museum in AZ being restored.

Still a good looking plane.

I was there in part of 75 & all of 76 rented a apartment above a residential home, across the street from the Hospital in Caribou.

They have also purchased land in Fort Fairfield, Smyrna and Oakfield. When I go on Route 2 I look for the houses with disconnected electrical service.....good people from what I have encountered.

Who knows, they may get to that one later or maybe it did not need the work. I was there many years ago and they were restoring a Navy F-4 Phantom at the time. It is quite the place to see and walk around but you do not want to do it in the Summer if it can be avoided.

That is the only time "CAT" would send me to Tucson AZ. Since we had to do a lot of summer testing on mining machines at the Tucson proving grounds outside of Green Valley AZ.

I feel your pain being here in the Summer. I spent 40 years here working outside all of the time. The hotter it would get and the older I became has made it unbearable. I retired and we managed to not be here last Summer but I am afraid with the health issues I will see this one. I have been kicking around the Flagstaff issue but it is a 3hr drive to the VA in Phoenix which I have had to go to many times since we came down from North Dakota in December. This is definately not the place to be for me in the Summer anymore.

I’m up here right now. I’ll see what I can get of Caribou. Presque Isle hasn’t changed a bit.
Had a hard time in Loring, many of the side roads not plowed. Only keep open what they need. Runway still maintained for emergencies, generators still on standby.

The wife had a job at the Presque Isle Converse sneaker facility, that was the nearest Sears catalog store also. The power plant at loring was kind of a signature for the base. I take it there is still quite a bit of snow on the ground.

This is what it looks like up here today....
