Converse was out on the old base in Presque Isle, right??

Had to ask the wife. She said it was outside of town on a hill. So yes I think you are correct.

Oh yeah, looks exactly the same to some extent. They would plow the main road to the base and over time the only thing you could see was the tops of the telephone poles as the banks were pretty high.

Going to Caribou from the base at the first Y in the road before using the bypass there was a Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth dealer, across from there was Plourdes furniture, a Woolworths (closed while I was there). Up from the Dealers was a McDonalds and across from them was a small shopping center with an auto parts store. We still have the furniture we bought there as it is all wood and has lasted well. I had a set of 3:91 gears put in my hotrod at the Dealers and the bypass around Caribou was my test track.

Plourdes is still there, not sure about the dealer. There is a Ford / Lincoln dealer there, Griffith I think...

Must not be there as they were pretty much across the street from plourdes. That was when Chrysler owned Chrysler.
