I have a 05 and years ago I had a single retractable step put on both sides and a few years ago especially in the winter my batteries would die within a day or two. I didn’t put it together until recently but years of driving with the steps had caused them to be stuck in the down position. I can hear the motor click when I open and close the doors but that’s it. Could it be possible that when the truck sits and the doors are closed are the step motors trying to retract like they should and actually killing my batteries? I pulled the fuses for the steps today and will test all the rest of the fuses when it stops raining and snowing here. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone and how do I get the steps to move again? I’ve sprayed rust penetration on the moving parts but no luck yet. Thanks for your advice
