My 2001 had a Roll N Lock cover and I'm looking at which one I want for the new truck.

I like the Roll N Lock as it had an anodized finish (metal) and it has held up well. The new Roll N Locks have a vinyl cover, over the metal, and I'm a little concerned with this setup. Those of you that have the newer Roll N Lock, how long have you had it and how has the vinyl held up?

I'm also looking at the Pace Edwards "Roll Top Cover" or the "JackRabbit" model.

There is another one built by BAK Industries, called the Roll Bak. It does not have vinyl and looks promising.

Any comments on these would also be appreciated... :)

I had the Pace Edwards, but had to get rid of it when I installed my toolbox/fuel tank combo in my 3500. Now, both my wife and I have the soft covers from Genos. They are much better IMHO.

The vinyl was holding up OK on the Pace Edwards.

RJOL, I also had a Roll n Lock and was extremely pleased. Mine had the aluminum finish. I believe all the ones they manufacture now have vinyl bonded to the top of the aluminum which ages with time. I am considering a Fold-a-Cover 4 section. They lift at the front and lift and stack fold from the back and don't take up any of the box space. Plus they can be removed easy. I believe the Advance Cover and the Fold-a-cover are the same unit marketed by different folks. Here is a link comparing many covers: http://truckgadgets.com/compare_covers.htm

Just my 2 cents

Your are correct. The new ones only come with the vinyl top. The "aging" question is exactly why I don't think I will put Roll N Lock on my new truck. I'm looking at a new roll top cover made by BAK Industries. It's called the "Roll Bak. " It is a lot stronger then Pace Edwards or Roll N lock, and a little cheaper. It has a all metal cover without the vinyl... ;)
