return line size

Is 1/4" I. D. SAE 30R7 hose suitable for the return line to the tank? The connector on the tank has a very small opening. Alternatively I considered running 5/16" or 3/8" most of the way and switching to 1/4" at the very end to make the connection to the tank.

I think 3/8ID would be way overkill for the return. I'm not sure what size it is. As long as it's rated for diesel fuel, go for it, I don't see nothing wrong with it.

What he said. I dont think size is that critical; just make sure it is diesel rated, and that it seals up well.

I put about 7 feet of 5/16" and the rest 3/8". 5/16" fits on the tank connector better.
