The reverse lights on my 03 2500 w/6 speed manual were not working when I bought it over a month ago. I replaced the switch that goes into the transmission and it was working fine, now it's not working again. Any ideas?

Check the switch and see if it failed again. Replacement parts like these are becoming an issue, cheapest manufacturer and all.

Buy the switch at Orielly's and keep the receipt - they have a lifetime warranty.
Also, are there any other lights hooked up to the backup circuit? Those switches dont like carrying much extra load.

i wish I had kept the receipt for this one!

not sure if anything else is hooked to that circuit. I have an electronic brake control module installed, as well as a dome light in the bed shell.

My Reverse Lights are on a sometimes they work and sometimes they don't schedule.
Where exactly is this switch located and what tools are needed to change it?

On my manual it's on the passenger side of the transmission, easily removable with an adjustable wrench.

For switch going out get some contact cleaner. 1 can lubricating, 1 can drying.
Spray connectons with lubricating one 1rst let sit 5 minutes. Spray with drying one let a couple of minures. Connect connectors. Turn key to run. Put trans in reverse. See if lights are working.
I have my oringanal back up switch. Aprox every 3-4 years I have to spray it again.
The back up switch that works occasionally you can check the switch out but I would look at back up lights ground or broken wires.

My friend has a 2002 with the NV5600 and he has been through a few switches. I don't know if installing a load relay to take the amperage load off of the switch would keep it from failing. You would have to take a failed switch apart and see if the contacts are burned. He bought a lifetime switch.
