intake heater delete, now code sets

I installed a intake heater delete on my 06' and I was wondering why the intake heater circuit code now is set after my 33 ohm 1/2 Watt Resistor install. The Resistor install was to fool the PCM that a load exists in the intake heater circuit since I removed the heater. I removed the wire from the heater solenoid PCM side and added the resistor to chasis ground and the Resistor burned up. This next time I will install a new 33 ohm resistor, and a larger 1 Watt Resistor and hook it up to the removed ground wire that went on the other side of the solenoid... Any thoughts on the matter?

The resistor is used across the relay coil wires, not the actual power wire for the grid heater. From your description I am not sure how you did it. Did you remove the relay also, or just the heater?
The ECU looks for voltage drop from the heater itself, but before the engine is running, so you must not wait to start. If you do, you will get a code. With the grid heater disconnected you must turn the key directly to start to avoid the code.

Ive had my grid out for years, All I did was tape wires.
All summer I get no codes, when temps get down to 30s
I get a low voltage code. Clear it in the spring.
