Just wanted to know what liner you have and why you like it. I have the rhino liner in my 99 and the only complaint I have is man its hard to keep clean. Is the linex liner any better to clean or are they the same? Trying to decide what to put in my new Truck!

rhino

I have had a rhino liner, and I liked a lot. My only concern I might express to anyone considering it, and that is if you get over the top as I did, make sure they are committed to neatly masking the edges, or it will look bad.

I'm in the same boat you are Rc. I have a Line-X in my '99 and the place I'm getting my hitch installed uses Rhino. From what I have noticed, the Rhino is more "cottage cheese" like and the Line-X reminds me of rough sandpaper. I know Line-X makes a shine agent but I've used just used Simple Green and Armorall (on the non skid surfaces) to keep mine clean. After 2. 5 years both my trucks with Line-X are doing fine. They have lost a little luster but they are pretty easy to keep clean. I have no scratches or cuts but I also don't really hall stuff that would or could damage the lining.

How is your Rhino diffucult to clean? How has it held up for you? Does it dull easily?

Thanks

Ron

Hey RROHDE, I have tried using soap and water with a brush on my hands and knees scrubbing. Comes clean a little but there seems to be always dirt left in there. I have not tried simple green yet but i think i will. As far as it holding up its been great. It sure has faded and dulled a little bit. Made the mistake of using tire foam on it once, looked like brand new for a week, but slicker then snot on a door knob after that. Im sure the dusty conditions don't help either!:(

You are kind of comparing apples to oranges. I think that both are excellent products. I have the Rhino because it is a "tacky" Polyurethane finish and my slide-in camper won't budge once it is set in the bed. Anything that you put in the bed, more or less, will stay where it was placed. The Linex is a "slick" hard finish and especially good if you are wanting to drag things in and out of the bed. I think that both offer great protection but the finished product will only be as good as the shop that installs it. The prep work is the most important for good adhesion. Be sure and look at samples of the shop's work.

If the dealer didn't have too pay for mine, I would rather of had the Rhino liner. I think my Line-X would work great on ladder racks, dump beds things like that. The surface is very course like sandpaper. For just your normal pick-up not a work truck I think this is an overkill. Believe me I am glad they paid for it and the shop they took it too did a great job, I am very happy with the finished product :D

IMHO

the next best lining compard to Linex which I have had for over a year and really like is

www.armacoatings.com

This liner is excellent, but it all depends on how expierenced the installer is .

My edge's on the over the rail came out lazer sharp :)

I like my Arma Coating: over the rail bedliner, full rocker panels, fender flares, and nerf bars. No more "chip resistant" paint!!

I have the Rhino Liner, i love it. As far as brightning a faded liner. I have a spray i got from my Rhino dealer designed just for these liners. Kind of like Armor all, but it wont make your liner slippery. Mine still looks new though (7 months, lots of loads and a salty winter. ). Ditto on being careful with the over the rail spraying. If they dont mask it good, it looks pretty nasty. Always check out the dealers previous work regardless of what brand you go with

I have the Line-X liner and love it. And as you can see from my signature my fender flares, nerf bars and tool box are all coated with line-X. I will probably do the rocker panels one of these days.

As for cleaning the liner inside the bed:

Go to the car wash... a good one that uses good products like Turtle Wax. Spray your liner with the tire cleaner and let it soak for a few minutes and then rinse it with high pressure. Be sure to rinse it completely with clear water. It will come out squeaky clean. If it is really, really dirty you may want to take a stiff brush and brush the liner before you rinse it.

As for retarding the inevitable fade:

I use the bed liner conditioner from Line-X. It is expensive but it sure seems to work.

:)

I have the Line-x and couldn't be happier. I have managed to scrape it up but I use the back of my truck alot. I think the person doing the work makes a huge difference. Find someone who has had plenty of practice!

Speed Liner

Mine is Speed Liner. It matches the color of my truck. Very happy. Probably about the best investment I have in the truck.

I have Linex in my new truck, also had the rear Ruenel bumper given the Linex coating both inside and outside (it looks great!). On my '98 V10, I had "Diamond Liner", a similar spray-in liner and I was not happy with both how thin it was and how much it faded. The Linex is a bit 'rougher' on the surface, but it sure looks better and is about 2x thicker than the Diamond Liner. I'm happy so far. :)

EMD... is it available at all rhino dealers... what is the name? The only thing I found is called "one step", and that step takes all afternoon. Harder than waxing the entire Ram!

I had the Line-X in my last truck. I managed to chip and scratch it up real good. It really isn't a big deal to me if there are a couple nicks in the liner (it is a truck after all!).

I just had the Rhino Liner sprayed in yesterday. Looks great. Only complaint right now is that the tailgate is hard to open and close. I think that the little rubber stops are being squished too much by the extra 1/4" of material. I may shave them a little so that it will fit better. Time will tell how durable the liner is.

I have the Line-X and like it so far have had it for 1yr and 2mo still looks good got the over the rail treatment looks great! imo only thing I have found so far that i dont like about it is that draging heavy loaded cardboard boxes is a tough one, sands it right off. no fade that I can tell but I have a canopie! but the over the rail part still looks nice and black ?

I think the place I had mine sprayed in said they could make smoother but dont quote me on that

Thanks for the replies. I think I will stick with the rhino for my new truck only because they did a great job installing it. I just work a little harder to keep it clean:cool:

Only complaints I have is my Rhino lining seems to scratch and has chunks missing-seems kinda soft-but it has been in for two years. I guess I'm to used to the hard plastic drop in liners.
