Hello;

I'm looking for photos of third generation Rams with Rickson 19. 5" round and oval hole aluminum rims. I can't decide between the two styles looking at the rim alone.

Thanks

Gino

I ordered a set of aluminum wheels for the third gen last October and when I contacted Rickson in April (they were not in production yet upon the order) for an update they told me they would not be produced. They then apologized and canceled my order. Are you sure they're making these wheels because if so I'll be :mad:

Scott;

I'm not sure they are making the aluminum wheels. I just assumed they are since they have them on their web page. They show pricing for them so I would think they actually have them to sell. Maybe they just have'nt updated their web page.

Gino

During our conversation when I commented on the descrepencies between what I was being told and what the web page listed I was informed the webmaster "doesn't really keep up with what we are doing"

Sounds like time for a new webmaster to me.

-Scott

That's a bummer, I really want an aluminum wheel to keep the rolling weight to a minimum. I guess I need to start looking for another wheel manufacture. I doubt I'll have much luck since my truck is a SRW.

Gino

Les Schwab sells a 19. 5 rims called Vision that are alloy.

If you ever make a trip to the North Western states check it out.

After looking closely at the Rickson web page for SRW Dodge wheels I noticed the following: They have aluminum wheels for the 94-99 trucks and they also show an aluminum wheel for the 00 and up trucks. When I look even closer I see that the aluminum wheels have the same part number and vital statistics for each group. What this means is they are using the same wheel for the newer trucks as the older trucks. The only difference I can see is in the offset. The older trucks have an offset of . 25" while the newer trucks use ~1. 7" offset. This means the aluminum wheels will stick out about 1. 45" further than stock on the newer trucks. If that works for you, then they have a wheel for you.

Just my $. 02 interpretation of what I see on the Rickson web site.

This is exactly right. Is it too much to ask for an aluminum wheel with the proper offset for my truck? Currently the only one I know of is a 18" Weld sold by T Rex.

-Scott

I just got off the phone with Rickson. Peter is correct, the issue is they don't have the right offset for the later trucks. They assured me they are going to have the correct wheel but they expect it to be a year or so before they have them. Apparently the company that manufactures the wheels for them is very slow. She said it took their supplier two years to get the current aluminum wheels into production.

I don't have the money right now and want to put a Flippac on my truck before I do anything else. If I get lucky they'll be available by the time I'm ready.

I'm sure somebody has already looked into this but

I noticed a UPS truck today sporting 245/70R19. 5 tires & wheels. Does anyone know if the wheels off of a UPS truck will fit on a Dodge?

It's been discussed before about the UPS trucks. A lot of the UPS trucks use a 6 lug pattern.

BUT even so you're gonna be hard pressed to get ahold of anything from a UPS truck. UPS has a patent or something like it and when a truck is wrecked, decommissioned or the like it is either recycled or destroyed... . NO ONE gets parts from it.

With that said... I made a post a few weeks ago that no one responded to... . there are an aweful lot of delivery style vehicles with 19. 5's out there. bread trucks, chip trucks (potato chips etc) fed-ex, the post office has a medium sized box truck with an 8 lug pattern and what LOOKS to be 19. 5's.

Right now the only other option is to go to www.chromewheel.com and order a set of adapters... they adapt our 8X6. 5 BP to the larger 10X225mm BP for which there's a plethora of wheels... RV's, busses, small over-the-road apps etc. BUT the adapters are $1000 a set... . THEN you have to purchase the wheels... .

I saw my second set of the Les Schwab Vision wheels on a truck today with 245's. Not bad looking wheels but the sticking out over an inch bothers me. Adapters would do the same and more if you can't get the right offset.

Al of us with third generation SRW trucks should get together and start calling these guys. If we show enough interest Vision might start making that rim with the correct offset.
