Anyone put Rickson's on a 2003 yet? Are they even available? I'd love to see pictures of 19. 5s on a new gen truck.

Mine shipped last Friday

I ordered a set for my SRW 3500 '03 at the end of June. It wasn't supposed to take this long but...

They told me they shipped last Friday. I'm hoping to see them this Friday. If so, I'll post a picture.

I was really interested in the Rickson's. The only issue I had was getting the 7. 5 inch wide wheel in an alloy, plus their inner wheel for the dually is only available in steel.

I wanted all alloys, for weights sake.

When I was shopping around, they said the alloys would not be available anytime soon for the dually.

Rickson's are on

The Rickson's I ordered showed up yesterday at my local Les Schwab. I had them installed last night and took a test drive.

The wheels are 19. 5"x6. 75" Chrome Wheels for the '03 Dodge. They 2nd gens have a different length axle and different offset so the wheels for the '03's are different.

The tires are Goodyear G124 265/70R19. 5. I wanted the most aggressive I could get in this size because I do a lot of off road driving.

I ordered the wheels back at the end of June and expected to have them on within two weeks. Rickson's supplier had some problems with one of the wheels during manufacturing and assembly. This delayed things much to my dissatisfaction. I was about to cancel the order when I got the message that my wheels had shipped. The message also said that one wheel was damaged cosmetically during assembly. They knew I was getting ready for a trip so they shipped them anyway. (I was calling them everyday). They said they would send me a replacement wheel or give me a credit for the blemishes.

When the wheels arrived yesterday, the manager at Les Schwab and I couldn't tell which one was the damaged one. All wheels looked good. Very nice chrome job.

Some observations:

These wheels are heavy duty. The steel looks like 1/4 inch plate all through. Since the tires are heavy too, the combination must weigh around 150 lbs. That's a lot to get turning and a lot to stop. It's also a lot for the suspension to handle out there at the end of things.

Alcoa now has available 19. 5" wheels for '03 dualies. Not the SRW yet but I'm told maybe this spring. That combination would be a lot lighter but the aluminum needs polishing to keep it looking good. Choose your poison.

The Rickson's balanced up good. Road force numbers where in the 20's for three. One was at 63 (still not bad but I may have it changed today to see if there is a difference). They seem to ride well. I expected a rougher ride but I don't think that will be the case. They tracked just fine on the rutted roads too. Nice.

Tires are just over 34" tall. It does not look like there are any clearance issues. I had 35" tires on my 95 and they rubbed some when I turned but they were wider too.

I'll post some pics.

who should I talk to about the alcoas for the dually at the best price??? I want them!! Know anyone with them? Pics would be great!

Alcoa's

I have not seen pics of the Alcoas but I did see them on truck at my local Les Schwab. They looked very nice. Maybe someone else will see this and post a picture.

I have found the pricing at my local Les Schwab as cheap as anywhere. In my experience, their service is superior. I have found they will meet anyone else's price if you have the facts when you go in. They don't usually carry Alcoas but they can get them.

Update on Rickson's

Now that I have some miles on the Ricksons here it what I have learned:

When you have the road force balancing done, look for numbers in the low 30's or less. When you test drive, look for a rough spot at 35-37 miles per hour. I had one tire that had a road force value of 63 and it road rough as heck at this speed. I coudn't tell it at 65 mph though. I had this tire changed out and the new one scored a 13. BillOo. Things are a heck of lot better now!

Hope this is helpful,

I put mine on today, have pics but can't get them to work here. as far as speedo I heard you can have it changed thru computer.

This site is one of the hardest to post a picture on that I or a computer guru I know has used. I think computer only will change for a few limited size stock ratios. Saw on another site size FOOLERS I guess you would call them. They looked to cost a few hundered bucks. I may be wrong that why I was asking if you had tried to recalibrate yet.

yup tried it,I go on another site called thehulltruth.com for boat info. they make it easy to upload a pic and post.

Speedo Cal

I checked with Rickson on the speedo cal. They don't have anything yet for the '03 trucks. I checked with my local dealer. The service manager told me he could do it for roughly $50.

Mine is off by 7. 6% with the 265/70R19. 5 size Goodyear tires.

Task, Maybe you could post your pic on that site (thehulltruth) and then give us a link. (copy and paste the site which contains your picture) This site is finicky in the size of pic. you can post.
