I have an opportunity to buy a set of 6. 75" wide Rickson's from a guy at work - just the wheels, no tires. His truck is a '98, mine is a '00 both are 2500 4wds. I talked to Matt at Rickson and the '99/earlier wheels have 1. 5" more offset than the '00/later according to him. His comment was they will fit but may require fender flares and obviously will load the wheel bearings differently than the 'proper' offset wheels.

Is anybody running the '99/earlier Rickson's on a '00/later truck? How does it look and can you provide pics? I'm going to try and borrow one of the wheels for a test fit but I don't think the tires are still on the rim.

Has anybody had a front wheel bearing fail due to using the larger offset wheels?

What was changed in '00 to require the huge difference in offset? I know the front brakes were significantly changed but I don't about anything else - can't remember... .

Brain, my advice is don't do it. You'll end up regretting it, I bought 18" Weld wheels recently and found out they were for '99-older Rams and stick way out and look bad when I put one of the wheels on. Now I have a beautiful set of Weld wheels to unload :(

Update:

I fit up one of the wheels - no tire - last night and the offset is too much. Just like Rickson's said.

My 315s on the factory alum wheels are right at the edge of the fender. If you dropped a plumb bob down the side of the bed at the center of the wheel well the tire would be just touching the string. With the '99/earlier Rickson the edge of the wheel would be touching the string - the tire would be beyond the fender.

I posted an ad in the classifieds for the wheels if anybody is interested. The seller is not a TDR member - was in the past - and I'm just passing ph #s on this.
