I just got myself a 89 D250 automatic that is mostly stock and I'd like to keep it that way for the most part. However I feel like the front end is waaaaaaaaay lower than the back. I know that some difference is normal. But it makes me consider leveling it if not lifting the truck a little bit. What do y'all think about ride height in terms of clean/stock trucks? Is a lift forgivable or if I want it stock under the hood should it be that way all the way around?

I’d bet you original springs are sagging badly. These vintage MotorWeek pics may help you judge your truck.

It’s all how you want it, and what you plan to do with it.

I’d be willing to bet the front springs have sagged over the years.

I’d probably spring for 4 new springs that level the truck, or nearly level it, and put airbags on the rear if you hauled heavy.

Check your ball joints ASAP, the sagging front springs put extra strain on them, and they will fail in a catastrophic manner, or at least mine did, the lower left ball ripped completely out of the cup, causing the lower control arm to drop and dig into the pavement and the tire to come up and in large the wheel well in the fender. I was lucky that I was only going 40mph when it happened and I caught the truck and before it made it across the center line of the road
