I just replaced my right headlight due to the leak that repeatedly allowed it to fill up with about a half inch of water. The harness connector had lots of algae on it so apparently water was seeping out around the headlight connector. I cleaned it up with alcohol and it all looked good. When I checked the lights after installation everything, including the turn signal, worked. Now the right front turn signal doesn't work on lockup flash, turning indicator or hazard flasher. The right rear works normally except for the rapid flash due to the front not working.

I don't see a fuse in the fuse table. There is one for the right turn/stop under trailer tow, but nothing for the truck itself, at least nothing dedicated to the right front.

I'll pull the headlight tomorrow and check the connector for corrosion. Can anyone give me the pinout for the connector? Any ideas about what this might be if not corrosion?

Thanks,

Al

Well, this is embarrassing.....

I pulled the headlight and wiggled the connector and the LED lamps came on. I unplugged it to check for corrosion and saw none. When I put it back on, at first it didn't seat all the way to lock. I think I must have not seated it all the way when I installed it. I pushed it REALLY hard and it seated all the way and locked. Everything working now. With luck, maybe it will stay that way.

Ignore my last post. I'm no longer embarrassed.

Like the first time, the parking light and turn signal worked when I plugged it in , but now, after driving some, are no longer working. Maybe it is a voltage thing, when the voltage is low, i.e. after sitting for a week, they work. When the voltage is up, i.e. while the battery is being charged, they don't. Maybe it is corrosion. So I still need the pinout for the headlight connector. Anybody??

And the hits just keep on coming. I was getting a fast blink and a cluster message saying there was a problem with the (headlight or turn signal) which I interpreted as the turn signal not working right. It turns out the turn signal is blinking normally but the truck is detecting a fault. All functions of the headlight are working normally but the truck thinks it is bad. The truck seems to think it is OK when the battery voltage is low, and alarms when the battery is fully charged. I went out to the truck after it had been sitting for a couple of weeks and all was well. It barely started, and after driving a while and the battery voltage came up to 13 volts, I started getting the fast blink. I think maybe the replacement headlight is not drawing the same amount of current or something and the truck detects that as a fault.

Anything I can check?

Thanks!

Check the rear light also. Make sure the right number bulb is in the socket. Some have different voltage draws and could
screw things up.

Thanks for the suggestion. You reminded me that something like this has happened before and it was the high mounted stop light. I don’t think that is the problem this time but I should check. No other bulbs have been changed. My truck has the LED taillights as well. I hope it is not the HMSL. That is a bear to change, and I don’t need it because I have a topper.

The BCM checks for resistance all the time.
There is something wrong in this direction.
Might you want to Ohm the wires and the new light assembly.

To high of resistance the BCM cuts the feed to the lamp assembly assuming a short in the circuit.

The problem is in the truck's sensing circuits. I am on my 4th headlight assembly. #1 was returned due to truck saying it was bad. #2 was returned because the plastic wrap for the foam packing was stuck to the sealant between the lens and body. When I tried to pull the plastic wrap off, it was pulling the sealant out of the joint. #3 appeared to be missing a drain vent tube. #4 is like #3 but the drain vent fitting isn't open so apparently a tube isn't needed.

EVIC reported right front turn signal out on all 4 replacement headlights, and my original. All lights are working properly including the HMSL which has given me false readings on other lights before.

Today after installing #4 and seing the same problem I took the drivers side light and plugged it into the passenger side and vice-versa. The problem indication stayed with the passenger side, indicating that the problem is with the truck, not the headlight assembly. Now just got to figure out how to keep the dealer from trying to sell me a Mopar headlight while fixing the truck problem under my extended warranty.

Looks like you will be going back to the dealer again, ouch! When you do go be exterminate firm tell; them you swab headlight assemble problem is only right side, good luck.
