Ok, i was adjusting the governer arm to hit my plate, and dropped a small screwdriver bit in the pump. AWESOME!!! Ok, i grab my magnet, and in all my freaking glory, drop that in there too. I fought with it for an hour to get it out, and ended up getting it wedged between the bottom and a cavity on the back of the pump. I cant move the damn thing. I was almost in tears, now i just want to kick the crap out of myself. The back of the pump seems to come apart from the rest of it, but i dont see any bolts on the top, just the bottom. Can i take this apart? any other ideas for me? Not really wanting to have it towed, then have the ip removed. $$$$ and emarassment would kill me. Please someone give me an idea here. Thanks

The governor housing does come off of the back, but I wouldn't do that, without pulling the pump off first. It MUST go back together correctly, so nothing gets screwed up.

Ruckuz,

I've got no help for you but I hate your having all this trouble. It sounds just like my luck. If I could help you I would. The only advice I can give you is to sit back, take a break for a while, and then try again. If it went in there it will come back out.

You can take the back of the pump off but don't try it without pulling the pump first. I would completely exhaust everything else before I tried this. I have pulled the Gov assy off a few times and it can take 30 minutes or it could take 3 hours.

My son has a magnet so powerful it has to be kept in a special case. Would such a super-strong magnet allow you to pull out your lost items? Someone in your locale probably has them for sale.

The socket fell off the ratchet when I was in doing mine. #@$%! I know exactly what your feeling. Try everything and keep fishing. We did for more than an hour. Just be sure to not back off that lever adjustment screw too far or it'll fall down into the abyss as well. :{

Finally

Thanks everyone for the replies... .

After about 3 hours, half a pack of cigarettes and a near stroke... . i finally managed to get another magnet on a set of vice grips close enough in the back of the pump to get it out. I actually had to sit down for a second... i was so happy i got it out of there. However, my GSK is still not functioning properly. I'm going to make another post in the 12v section, so anyone who knows anything about them, please check out the 12v thread for my post. !!

Thanks TDR!
