The Nexen Roadian AT (LT235/80R17) tires on my 2014 3500 Laramie CC Dually have a kind of faint rainbow ring around the circumference of each wheel. See picture. Reminds me of something that has been heated. Truck has about 3000 miles on the odometer, only ~300 of which was towing (maybe 21,000 lbs., haven’t had it weighted yet) with fronts @ 65 psi and rears @ 80 psi. Any thoughts?

Will it wash off? I seem to remember this happening to mine when I had a dually and was towing a large trailer and camper. If I remember correctly, it washed off and I assumed it was caused by heat.

For one you are running too little air in the front tires. Also your rear tires have WAY too much air for your load. Use the load/inflation charts for your tire.

I run 60 psi rear with over 5K pin sitting on the rear axle. The fact is these trucks have a lot of weight on the front axle also from the factory.

I run 80 psi all the time on the fronts and 40 solo rear.

I dumped my NEXEN's at 250 miles and put MS2's on.

Just stating what the tires say for max psi. , and i have a dually and i run 80 psi for towing, Your statement was he was running way too much air for what he was towing,on a load of 21k you take a chance of tires rubbing, getting hot and then you have bad problems, and i was just telling that i run it and have not had any trouble with 80 psi and my tires say run 80 psi, when i am not towing i run 50 psi in the rear and 65 psi in the front, OK?, Take care , Monte

Your tires say "80PSI MAX". Read the load/inflation chart for your tires. RAM says 9,750 max load on rear tires and they recommend 65 psi.

I have a friend that hauls a 18-20K RV and he runs 80 psi in his rears and the centers are almost gone at 30K. Here is a pic of MS2's with 40K and running 60psi.

OK! The word from local dealer service...the discoloration is caused by the finish on the Alcoa wheels bleeding onto the tires. It washes off the tires and the phenomena will cease after the wheels are washed a few more times.
