Here I am

Rip Rook and my PE4200

Thanks, TDR Staff

Santa Claus came in April!

anything stronger then a Dana 80?

First off, let me say Rip is a great guy to deal with. Super customer service, good prices and fast shipping. I called to get some info on the PE 4200, bought one, and got it two days later. He was very polite, friendly, and answered all my questions. It was a real pleasure to do business with him.

He also sells 2 fitting/ hose kits. One kit hooks the tank to the pump, and then the pump to the filter. The other kit connects the filter to the VP. I forgot to tell him I had a quad cab, so I ran just a little short on hose. No biggie. I had some extra in the shop.

I have only had the pump on for a few days, but what a difference. Truck runs smoother, throttle response is crisper, no more shudder in the upper rpms, and it pulls damn hard all through the rpm range. This pump and bigger fuel lines has really made it fun to drive this truck again. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner.

So, if your tired of the other pump wars, give Rip a call and see what he has to offer, you'll be glad you did, I am.

So how is the 4200 holding up. Whats the life expectancy? Thats alot of dough if it is no better then a Mallory or equivalent... ...

What is this pump? I have not heard anything about "Rip" or a PE4200 pump. How do I get some information about this person or the pump?

Product Enginering makes the pump(s). They were used by some members here for awhile, but quite a few didnt last. PE then pulled them from the diesel market for a period of time. Now, PE has made some changes, and have re-released the pump to use with diesel. It comes with a 2 year warranty.

Like I said, I have only had it on for a few days, so reliability is not yet proven (at least by me).

As far as cost goes, its twice the price of a factory replacement from Cummins, and half the cost of some other pumps advertised here. I am not knocking anybodys else's pump, I just bought what I could afford. It may last, it may not.

I forget the website for PE or Rip. Someone else will have to post them.

here is the info

The perfect pump for high performance street use! For applications up to 600 Horsepower, this pump is hard to beat. Geared for the street crowd and occasional drag strip use, it features the same quality components that are in all of our fuel pumps. It features a continuous duty 2-1/2" series motor with custom built armature, a C. N. C. machined, 6061-T6 billet aluminum body, twin heavy duty sealed ball bearings, and the proprietary 7 vane impeller found in all of our other pumps. Two -8 AN fittings and a rubber isolator mounting kit (shown) are included. A -6 AN bypass fitting is also included with the PE 4300 pump. The pump is hard anodized in your choice of blue/gold, purple/gold or black/gold. Other HI-FLO fittings are available in blue, black, gold and purple. Although we recommend using our Dual Electric Relay Harness PE 1050 with this pump, it is not required.

I didn't get mine from Rip but I have had this pump in my truck for about 14k miles which is about 2k more than the stock pump lasted.

This thing is great. I have never had any kind of pressure issues with it.

I do have the dual relay harness on mine. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I have -8 lines in and out of the pump upto the filter. I have -6 from there.

UPDATE

After having the pump for a while I really liked it until the other day, when it died. The motor still ran, it just had no suction, wouldnt prime, and when I gently forced a little fuel into the inlet, it still wouldnt pump.

I called Rip, and all I can say is WOW. He was more than helpful, and is taking care of the problem right away.

Another big thanks to Rip!! I will definetly be doing more business with this guy in the future.

mtngoat...

I put it back on the frame rail, and used bigger lines. I capped the factory lines, and bypassed the factory lp.

PHX ATC...

The pump started loosing pressure and suddenly lost all pressure. The pump motor ran great, it just wouldnt pump anymore. I did look at the spring and ball, but I didnt want to tear to far into the pump itself for fear of voiding my warranty.

What is this holly grail they speeck of over there. I think i might need to do somethig soon. My guage is sitting at about 12 psi idle and gets darn close to 5 at wot. Im gana change the filter soon hope that helps some.

I just spoke with PE yesterday and the owner isn't recommending them for daily driven diesels just for pulling and racing. What is up with that?

It hasn't been released yet, hence why nobody said exactly what it is. It's close though, from what people in the know are saying about it.

I am the one that got Rip's pump, it is running great (as I type) putting out a solid 24psi. But I did have a problem with the first one. But Rip took care of it very well. I like the set up, hope it holds out, don't want to redo it again. Live and learn
