Calling the Turbo Gods.....

New 5" Exhaust

Took a trip up North this weekend, On the way back we went through the Holland Tunnel in NYC, A Rip Rook exhaust system sounds better than a symphony in the Holland tunnel. Also ran a tank of B20 BioDiesel, could not tell any difference in power, maybe alittle less smoke and diesel smell. Considering the lubrication benefit I would like to run B20 all the time.

Your truck will run fine on B-100 but you probably won't like the drop in power and mpgs. B100 has cold weather issues also.

I've found on the 12 valve that B20 is about the max before you start noticing the drop in power. I prefer B5 myself.

Ditto what Bob said, I love my RR exhaust. All the guys in the neighborhood love it, altho the wives thinks its too loud. :D

Around here we have had biodiesel for approximately one year at cenex and then tesoro. I tried it last fall and every tank I ran the fuel pressure gauge jumped around like my lift pump was going out, I ran about three tanks and then quit useing it, after I quit useing it the second tank full my pressures leveled back out. I tried the biodiesel again this summer from tesoro and the same thing happened, the pressure gauge jumped around like the lift pump was on it's way out, quit useing the biodiesel and again the pressures went back to normal. I don't know if it is just my lift pump doing this with biodiesel or others are experienceing the same thing? My daughter use to work at a cenex and she claims that alot of dodge cummins guys were complaining around here about the biodiesel haveing ill effects on their vehicles, I don't know what they were experienceing, just that biodiesel was not favorable around here in the dodge cummins application, I don't even know if it is just related to the ones with lift pumps or all dodge cummins. Just passing on information that maybe we can all keep an eye on.

If it was effecting the gauge then it would of had to effect two electronic sending units, one before the filter and the other after the filter, not likely but could happen.

Not trying to discredit biodiesel, I remember the same thing happening when gasahol or ethenal as it is called to day came out.

I also use to be a farmer and still own a small farm, so anything agricultural related would be a good thing for me, I was just passsing on what I experienced and what others told my daughter when she worked for cenex. I do know that anything thicker than regular #2 will effect these lift pumps. When it gets cold around here the pressure drops and running straight #2 in the winter can take out a lift pump. I have replaced 4 lift pumps in previous years because I ran straight #2 in the winter. Last year I thought I was going to have to change the lift pump again for th e 5th time, I switched over to a blend of #1 and #2 and the lift pump has survived for a year longer so far, only time will tell how much longer.

I'am not trying to say all lift pumps or even anyone else's will do this, I just know what mine will do and maybe give people a heads up on something to think about when they have lift pump problems.
