I had been in the habit of buying my engine parts from the local Cummins store to save money. They used to be significantly cheaper than the dealer. I'm going to change my coolant this weekend (Every 2 years) and picked up a new thermostat from Cummins today. They popped me for $60+ and I'm beginning to think that they are taking advantage of retail customers, me anyway.

Has anyone purchased a thermostat lately and does that sound exsessive?

I got a similar quote from the Cummins outfit in the Pacific Northwest, think it was around $55. 00.

Went to my local Dodge dealership, less than 25. 00 for the 190 degree thermostat

I bought a couple, an OEM replacement from NAPA for $28, that one didnt seem to work right, so bought another one half way across the country for $25 from NAPA, dealer was about the same... . had a new one put in with the head gasket i had done at a local cummins shop, they charged me $16 for a 180degree therm..... all these within 30 days
