Has anybody actually done a Cummins into a Ford conversion?

New 24V ISB's Avail.

Well I ripped the center out of my clutch 350+ miles from home but only 5 blocks from my cousin's house in Losangeles but it did hold on long enough to pass the Yuppy in the SUV that was trying to out run me. I have a GM dirve line, ( 4 speed grany gear SM420 and Ranger overdrive). I bought the clutch South Bend Clutch reccomended but they said this might happen. Guess I might have to put a cam plate back in my pump!! I'm going to be able to do the job here in my cousin's drivway. Im wondering If I should get the same style clutch I have now with the big springs in the center or get a solid disk with no springs. I don't really know how important those springs in the center are. The clutch never did slip on me. Anybody know of a good clutch supplier in Losangeles?

Thanks,

Treven.

The 13" southbend conversion is a whole different animal. If you can convert to it, highly recommend it. Mine is Con OFE. The center springs are way outboard on the diameter for very strong torsional capability. I told Peter I towed heavy and lug it with the gear vendors for mileage, so he talked me into it. Never looked back. Don't know if your input shaft is compatible though. I think you can see the difference on his web site.

I got it fixed. I took alot of work on my back in my Grandma's drivway in Losangeles with very few tools but it is done. It works better than before because I changed my mechanical clutch linkage to give it more leverage and it is smoother. I think the clutch disk I used is better. I used a stock GM 454 clutch made by LUK. $139 from Pep Boys. It will slip just a little bit under full throttle and I think this engine puts out over 800 ft lbs torque. Slipping under max torque will help me not twist off my input shaft. If I feel it slip, which is very rare, I just back my foot out a little.

drees1, thanks for the response but that clutch woun't fit in my application.
