RMK or Summit/highmark or ?

I am looking to buy a new 800 151 track this year and was wondering if anyone out there had any opinions. I am leaning to the RMK. I would like to here other peoples experiences. They both seam to be about the same weight and power.

IMO Doodoo has their stuff together, RER and super flat approach angle specifically. RMK is proven but I’ve seen lots of Polaris twins broken down and I wonder about their build quality. Both are close when set up right so I think it comes down to your local dealer support and quality issues. Polaris seems to always have fuel economy problems, worth considering if you do longer back country trips.



FYI I avoid the issue by riding a ’00 Mtn Max 700. Great reliability and fuel economy, don’t work too well stock but the Ekholm tunnel makes a big difference.



Do you ever get up to BC? I rode out of Trail for 4 years and there’s some nice country there, also cheap vacation for you US guys with the exchange.

Our local Yamaha shop is not stocking the mountain max sleds this year, only the long tracked vipers. I hope to go on a trip to Revelstoke this year with the locals. They went last year and had a blast. So far people have told me that the Polaris engines are not that reliable. So Ski-doo or Yamaha may be the sled of choice.

I think the Summits are a better mountain/deep snow sled than Yamaha out of the box, especially if you are talking about a long track Viper which IMO is more of a trail sled setup with a wider frontend. My MM700 was really hurting to keep up with RMK's and Summits in deep snow until I did the tunnel conversion which is a major job putting it mildly. Where the longtrack Viper will shine is as an all around trail/mountain sled, if you are doing all types of riding and especially more trail riding the Viper will be really fun.



I'll be going to Revy more than a few times this year, it's only 4 hrs from here. Once we get into the season we should try to hook up there, we can spot eachother easily by black exhaust smoke signals in the parking lot .

My vote would be for the Skidoo. Most of my riding buddys ride Skidoo too. Like all the mags say, the skidoos are best a boondocking and that is about all we do getting to the hills.



Two months to riding??? Two years ago I rode on Oct 15th and was a week late getting started.

Your season may start earlier way up where you are JR. Also I've done more than my share of broken trailing arms and bent tunnels (hence the conversion project) from riding early season with no base and hitting rocks and stumps. I make up the time at the end of the year, we were still riding in June this year .

What size track do you have on your MM700 rspinks? Did you roll the chain case when you did the elkhome tunnel?



I have to say that I really like the new series 4 track on the new RMKs.

I still have the stock heavy Yokohama 141 on my sled, soon to be replaced hopefully with a used Camoplast 141, 144 or maybe 151 depending on what I can find. A 144 Camo is 15lbs lighter than my 141, plus it has a much more open lug pattern for better trackspeed. The Ekholm tunnel drops the drive axle 2" and rolls it back 4" so the shaft goes through the front of the tunnel. It's the hot ticket to making the MM work in deep snow, even with 9 tooth external drivers the approach angle is really flat. 10 tooth is even better but the drivers aren't cheap.



I'll have to check out the new Polaris tracks, I didn't know they had something new out. Sled technology moves fast so I stay behind a few years to get cheap used parts off the guys with the big money. Seems 156 and 159 is the tracks to run this year, yikes!!!
