I just finished reading some posts in the archive about problems some folks have had with Road Armor bumpers.

I am curious if those bad experiences have been the norm or rare?

I know Big Bob has a pretty nice Road Armor bumper and I would be curious to know what his experience has been

I've never heard anything REALLY bad, but I like Fab Fours stuff. http://www.fabfours.com/Home

Call there and ask for Garett. Tell him I sent you, nobody else I want to deal with.

American made and there tech support is here too! (Just kidding! ) But really Call Garett and he will take good care of you!

When I saw those bumpers on display at the Baytown event, I was less than impressed with the welds... I'm sure they were plenty strong, but they didn't look like welds that belonged on a $2000 bumper

Well, I think there pretty cool, Road amour is too, but I've met teh guys from FAb Fours and thhey have them on sale throuh here, but I would still call Garett. Be sure to ask him about Miata's!

I work for a shop where all we do is modify trucks and build custom race trucks. I needed a bumper for a 04 F150 and found Road Armor. So about 3 months ago I put down a full deposit and ordered front and rear bumpers for my customer. Road Armor at the time told me 3 weeks to have the bumpers in my hands. Then 3 weeks came up, they kept giving me the run around with things like the bumpers were at the powder coater, the laser cutter is late, the bumpers are in the grinding stages, and so on so forth. Finally after 2 months went by I started looking for other bumpers. I spoke to Trailready who uses the same laser cutter and I was told that Road Armor owes the laser cutter so much money the laser cutter is refusing to give them any more product and that is the reason why I didn't have the bumpers. So then I called Road Armor and asked for my deposit back, they told me they were going to charge me a 15% restocking fee for a product that I never received!!!!! Finally after talking to the powers that be at Road Armor I was finally told I would get a full refund. They sent me a confirmation stating my credit, only problem is it was being credited to a different credit card, a card that didn't even belong to me, it was probably Road Armor's company card. So finally I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company to finally get my money back so that I could get the bumpers from Trailready (which I had in my hands 2. 5 weeks after I ordered them, no deposit required!!!). So all in all Road Armor was the worst company I have ever dealt with and would never recommend to anyone. Sorry for the long rant guys.

WOW!! That is some pretty bad customer service. Thanks for the info. I like the look of the Fabfour's that BigSarg provided. I will also look at the trailready site. Thanks.

Have you looked at www,reunel.com , they sell quite a stout bumper.

I have their S/S front and rear bumpers with the Warn 16. 5ti winch up front and am extremely happy with service and fit!!! :D Oo.

I ordered my Road Armor middle of September and was told a 3 - 4 week build time... ... ... I still don't have it.

That's basically around the same time we ordered the ones for our customer. Did you have to put down a full deposit?

Sorry to hear of all the problems everyone is having with Road Armor! I bought mine 2 1/2 years ago. I had them powdercoat it, it rusted before I even got it home, but Road Armor paid to have it cleaned and powdercoated again. Other than that, no problems with it. I am happy with my Road Armor, just sorry to hear that customer service had gone to pot!

I got the front bumper from road armor a couple years back when the group purchase was put together.

The bad:

not the best looking.

welds could be better from an appearance standpoint

their powder coating sucks!

Stupid little laser cut emblem are just more surface areas to rust out.

Mine was missing the light tabs.

The good:

Pretty unique appearance.

Strong as can be

Pretty easy to mount up

Given what people have said, I wouldn't order a bumper and have it shipped. Their customer service appears to suck. Since I was close enough to drive to their shop and yell at a human being, I didn't mind ordering and throwing a fit if things weren't right.

I'd prefer an aluminum bumper but I'm basically happy and except that I'll re-powder coat it at some point. I've hit a coyote just recently and had some soccer mom back into me pretty hard and the bumper took no damage from either. Coyote was a pretty solid hit too.
