In WA they started using calcium carbonate on the roads last winter to melt ice, before it was only sand. The DOT said that this wouldn't cause corrosion problems on vehicles, but it is big time, it is rotting out wiring, brake lines and is real hard on aluminum wheels. The center caps on my rig rusted out in one winter, I replaced with SS. For you guys in WA save your receipts for any ice melter related damage. Some folks here on the eastside are working on a class action lawsuit against the DOT to recoup all the damage it has caused. Anyone elsewhere had similar problems? This is much worse than salt damage.
