Off Roading Fox Shock rebuilder

Competition DHRA on speed right now!

Looking for some insight by anyone who may have done this. This summer I want to start going to the local 2 mile roadcourse and start tearing it up with the BMW's Honda's and other import crap. I've worked on enough of those overpriced doctor rides for the local money, thought a hopped up Cummins would be fun to try. I've added 12 pack Deaver springs, KORE sway bar, Fox steering damper, Defiant steering box support, 4 - 10" wide slicks, and traction bars. Considering an air type shifter for quicker shifts, and a momentary switch for the lock up. Any advice from someone with experience would be appreciated. Thanks, and Merry Christmas all.

Photo's please.

You are going to need to talk to the local open track club... . Maybe there is a tuner car group that meets somewhere up there. Go to them and see what they say. They may even invite you. Generally these groups rent a track for the day. 20 to 30 cars.

Ask around and be safe. Being a truck guy I think it's great to see the trucks on the track. When I'm in my Mustang, I hate being behind one that will not let me by for the corners. (NA Mustang vs. Supercharged Lightning for instance. The L is faster in the straight a ways).

I think the guy that owns/started FASS knows a guy who has a road racing Cummins, it is a open road race, not on a course. lemme see if I can post a few pics later on. it was pretty slick

Maybe Diesel Dan will chime in

One problem a heavy truck will have on a tight course with a lot of curves is creating excessive tire heat. Best bet for something like this is a short wheelbase 2wd lightened as much as possible.

I know it won't be easy, if I wanted easy I'd go buy a BMW or a Porsche and do it that way. The slicks should work well, tire pressures and heat will have to be monitored and adjusted as necessary, but I think its possible to do it well. Oo.
