TDR MEMBER
I don't think I am a national event, but I didn't want to post this in all the regional events either, LOL.

I am making a work trip that will originate in Oregon in January, probably the 1st 5 days and then go to NE, LA, CT and RI and eventually back to Omaha and then home to Oregon. This won't just be a drive, I will be around each of those areas for about a week plus, and will probably fly home once around Valentines day, so don't expect to end up home with the truck until mid March.

If time and schedules allow (unknown at this point), I am open to meeting fellow members during the trip, dinner or whatever. I will be working on Air Force Bases in NE and LA and Navy Bases in CT and RI, so won't have much time during the week but MAY have some free time on weekends, especially Sundays.

Just thought I would throw this out there and see what happens.

For some reason I AM NOT currently getting e-mail's from the TDR site, so you can get me at -- email address removed -- or on my cell at 541-350-8002.

Shelby the week you are in CT look us up under the Ct coffee nights thread to see whats going on that week. We have a shop in Derby we usually meet at on friday nights to wrench+BS and you would be more then welcome to stop by and visit. Heck, you wouldnt be the first TDR member to do the commute from a CT navy base to derby for coffee night, Member Jengle has done it a few times ;)

GRIGGS!! What's up man how've ya been? So they have ya at the big "Pill" Base huh? Jengle has been known to be there for months at a clip. Say if you ever want to come on down for a good ol BS session or even twist a wrench on say a rental car feel free. I work up in North haven now which is 35-40 minutes from groton. We could hook up and go on down to Derby if ya like.

I just checked your setup and all settings are in good order. Could it be your spam blocker?

Thanks for the warm comments. Schedule is already changing, Omaha looks to be out, will know for sure tomorrow, BUT will be replaced by one of four other USAF bases (SC,NC,NM or TX). I will try to keep this thread updated as I travel, I have always found it a pleasure to meet other folks from this board.

I have been fine, probably a little under the radar on this site, too many sites, not enough time, LOL.

I know zip about either of the RI/CT bases, just another job site for me. We have a contract to provide aerial photography and mapping, but I haven't got all of the details yet. I have only been on one Navy base before, also a sub base (Bangor, WA), but about a dozen or so USAF bases in the past 3 years or so. Yep, the old Ram and I are seeing a bunch of bases.

I don't expect the weather to be warm and sunny in CT/RI during winter, BUT have never been to the NE in winter either.

Thanks for checking.

Steve St. Laurent was looking into this yesterday, apparently the server on this end is rejecting it prior to reaching my PC. I have contacted my domain host with the messages Steve was getting, but haven't heard back from them. It could also be something with my local ISP which is different than my hosting company????????

AFAIK, nobody else is getting bounced, but I guess I wouldn't really know unless they contacted me through an alternate method.

Yes, I will be driving my 2001 CTD.

Glad to hear the winter is mild so far, I will be working outside, clear and no precipitation would be nice :D

Trip starts today.

I leave Oregon today, going to go south to southern CA and take I 40 east and drop down to I 20 in OK/TX to Barksdale AFB in LA.

I am scheduled to be at Barksdale JAN16-19.

I will then work my way to NC via Memphis to visit a friend and end up at Seymour Johnson AFB for about a week, arriving around the 22nd.

I will then work my way NE to CT/RI where I have 3-5 weeks scheduled on two Navy bases.

Probably fly home once out of Providence, RI for a week or so of R&R, might be nice to be home with my wife around Valentines Day.

As I get closer to each stage, I will try to keep this thread updated.

Would be great to meet fellow TDR members as time and schedule allows, hopefully I won't need to call anyone because of a breakdown!

Look for a white (2001) 2500 4X4 with a custom aluminum bed with OR plates. I will be in the slow lane, running 60-65.

Cell phone 541-350-8002.

Stuck in Texas (weather)

This weather sucks. I went as far south as I could, coming across I-10. I heard bad things were happening around Odessa, TX eastward so stopped in Van Horn, TX. A nice motel and good food at a place called Chuy's, but other than that, just a motel town and a couple of truck stops. Hopefully I will get on down the road on Monday, still have 700 miles to Shreveport, so if the weather warms up enough to melt some ice I can make it in one day, otherwise I will stay here, it is a nice motel!

SHG

Will do.

Arrived in Shreveport on Tuesday, started the project yesterday and hope to be done here Friday. Will travel east on I-20 to Jackson, MS on Saturday and then north on I-55 to visit a friend that lives about an hour east of Memphis, TN.

I need to be in Goldsboro, NC area on Monday the 29 to start work on the second project, hopefully departing for the NE around the 3rd of February.

Will post updates as things firm up, weather is a factor, so remain flexible!

SHG

Update, moving to NE now

I finished my visiting and work in LA,TN and NC. left NC today and am heading north on I 95. Currently posting this from a rest stop between DC and Baltimore that has a WiFi connection.

Should arrive in the New London, CT area Sunday PM and will be there working on the base for maybe a week, all weather dependent, then will move to Newport, RI after that for about a week and then fly back to Oregon for some R&R. Should be back in CT/RI for a few more weeks, I am guessing starting in early March.

I have a couple of leaks in the fuel system AND a leaking steering box I might want to get fixed before driving back cross country in late March. The fuel leaks are just making a mess, but the steering box is getting worse, maybe just drop in a PSC box? Any TDR friendly places to get work done around CT/RI?

Hope to see some members while I am in the area.

I will try to do that, a strong possibility for this coming Friday 09FEB2007.

How far is that from Groton? Directions?

Spent the night in North East, MD, big day today for this country boy, going to drive through NYC on my way to CT, I am hoping for light traffic on a Sunday and hope everyone stays home and watches the game!
