....but it's a DRY heat !

Many of you may know Rob Hanson, long time TDR member and founder of the North West Bombers. Rob has been fighting Lime's Disease and Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) for over a year now. Unfortunately, he is now in Chico, CA. in the hospital with a ventilator and is in a coma. He has tried everything within his power to overcome these ailments. He has always kept a positive attitude and been very optimistic.

Your prayers are definitely appreciated by his immediate family, Jan his wife and his daughter, Bridgette.

Here is a picture of Rob in the chair at his bomb party that he has hosted for the last 6 years. This last year there was over 104 truck at his bomb party!

I don't know Rob, but my best wishes go out to him and his family. We lost my Grandfather to ALS. No one should have to go through the pain of that terrible disease.

Bob. .

Is there anything we can do to help Rob and his family?. Has there been a place set up for us to send any donations or cards to help them thru this troublesome time?. Please let us all know here how we can help. Our thoughts are with him and his family... ... . Andy

Just got an email today from Robin where someone was asking if we knew Rob was having a bad time. I didn't know anything about it. He'll be in our thoughts here. Man, what a bummer.

Andy,

At this time, everything seem to be under control with the family and everything. I have left messages with Jan, however with the circumstances, I haven't heard back. When I talk with her, I will see how she would like to handle cards and gifts.

To my knowledge there has not been anything set up for donation.

When I hear more, I'll keep you posted.

Rob has been the heart and soul of the NW Bombers since the beginning and one of the kindest most gracious people you could ever meet! It's difficult to watch someone suffer with this disease and see it try to take one of our best friends from us. I am not giving up hope and am praying he'll pull through this somehow.

I first met Rob in December 1999 and have attended many BOMB parties at his place over the years. He's always had a great sense of humor and shown genuine care and hospitality toward all the friends he's made as a part of the NW Bombers group.

Rob we love ya man, you're the best!

Rob gave me lots of great adivce when I installed the exhaust brake in my 01 CTD over 4 years ago. He's a great guy. Don't give up Rob.

This was posted on the Northwest Bombers at 7:30 AM this morning by DesertRam, Rob's wife's brother.

To all Rob's family and friends. Thank you guys for the support you have shown. I would like to ask you to change your prayers to support Jan, Bridget, and family.

Rob has passed away. They took him off life support last night and he passes shortly after.

Per Rob's request, we will not be holding a memorial service for him. He did not want any fuss over him.

I will keep you updated to any new events. I will be at his house Sunday with family.

Do Rob a last good farewell. Next time your in your Dodge send some black smoke up his way to let him know we are continuing on with him in our hearts.

Give me a couple days and I will be back on with any new info.

If you want to help out in any way you could start a donation drive to help the people travelling long distance to be with Jan and Bridget. He has kids that may need some help with gas and all to get there.

Rob would want us to remember the good times and not grieve over him.

I guess theres a new NWB group now and its in heaven.

I'm sure there will be a donation fund started, if interested check the Northwest Bombers Site

Jan, Bridgette and family, we share in the sorrow for your lost. Our Prayers are with you!

What a complete shock. I haven't been around the boards as of lately and this news caught me totally by surprise. Our family passes on our best wishes and prayers to Rob's family.

Prayers

Our thoughts and our prayers are with the family and you guys out in the Northwest. We're very sorry to hear of this loss.

In my earlier days on TDR, I remember reading a lot of Rob's posts. I had noticed that I hadn't seen his posts recently but had no idea of what he was fighting.

Rob's family will be in Sandy's and my thoughts and prayers. Normally, I try to keep the smoke down, but I'll floor it in 6th from 0 PSIG boost in your memory, Rob.

I sure hated to hear this but it sure is great to see the support from the diesel families here.

My prayers are with his family.

Like others I only knew Rob from his posts on TDR and NWB. We did communicate by email several times and he was always helpful!!!

I thought he had a daughter in Iraq, does anyone know if she was able to come back here and see her Dad?

Condolances to the family.

I realize I haven't been on the TDR BB for quite some time...

I spend most of my available time on the NW BOMBers BB. Also, I was very proud and honored to call Rob my best friend... he was truly one in a million!

Needless to say, there is a vast emptiness in my heart right now.

I do know one thing though, if I was one tenth the man Rob was I could walk away from life knowing I was a success.

To answer your question Jim...

yes, his daughter returned home from the Middle East and has subsequently gotten married and they had a wonderful, healthy baby together.

Wow, the last two days have been so profound. There was a picture many years ago of the first (I believe) NW bombers meeting at Rob's and he was wearing orange coveralls I think. I have never met the man, Anyway, he is one of the original's in my book. I am truly sad.....

Rip said it best when I was getting my FASS. At the BOMB partys "Rob was the first under the hood" and the last, he would lend a hand. Like many I only knew him from his Posts and PM's.

We could do with a lot more like him, The world would be a better place.
