Anyone know anything about rockauto.com selling fuel filters for 2014 for 12 to 14 bucks ?

Rock auto is a discount parts store. Do yourself a favor and buy the mopar filters to save your fuel system in the long run. - that is my opinion. Yes filters are expensive, but you fuel system costs more than that. For a gas motor - sure - get them from anywhere - not as critical.

I feel there are times to save and times not to - this is one of the not to. Besides - it is only the rear that is that price - the fronts are much more expensive. Just buy a set on amazon for about $70 you are good to go.

I've had success with Rock Auto for "normal" items - gaskets, bulbs, water pumps etc. Specialty stuff - not so much - such as fuel injectors - they sent ones that were for the correct SIZE motor, but not for the application intended - meaning they would work, but not correct - too much flow - so the computer must now adjust thinking something else is wrong. I installed them cause I had to - the others were not working at all (stream instead of spray) and my daughter-in-law needed the car.

UH, I think you should stick with Mopar, FleetGuard and Raycor as they are top quality and at a reasonable price on AMAZON.

I haven't seen a set for $70 for a couple of years. I bought them for $87 a couple of months ago. Be lucky to find them in the mid $80's now.

I think it's demand has raised the price.

i bought mine om amazon couple months ago. around 50 for the mopar fuel filter, 70 for the water separator. cheers!

RockAuto also sells Mopar products. The under hood filter is $56. Unfortunately, at the moment, the water sep listed is the complete unit including the wif sensor and frame mount . I don’t know why they don’t list the filter separately.

Well I needed rock auto last night. I ordered dorman spring shackles and bushings for my 98, and I decided to order Mopar coolant (50/50 mix), Air filter and cabin filter for my ‘14. Prices seemed good, so I pulled the trigger. They appear to be a Mopar distributor now.
Back to the OP,
No doubt Rock would stock a cheap filter for current CTD’s, I wouldn’t do it.

Since the OP’s question has been answered, I’m going to veer a little.

I’m sure we’ve all seen the animated commercial for Rock Auto, the one where the guy goes to the auto store looking for struts and the counter guy says they might have some in the warehouse. Then the narrator says something along the lines of, don’t take your chances blah blah blah you never know what you’re going to get from these stores. Order from the experts at Rock Auto and get the right part every time.

My first experience with Rock Auto I ordered four black door handles to replace the chrome ones on my ‘14. When the package arrived, I received 3 black handles for a ‘14 Ram and one for a ‘12 Hyundai Santa Fe. I asked my wife if she was familiar with the commercial and when she said yes I showed her what I received. We both got a good laugh. That was four years ago. To this day we still laugh when that commercial comes on.

I’m not bashing Rock Auto, everybody makes mistakes. That was the only order out of many that was wrong. It just happened to be my first order with them.

I’m pretty sure that Rock is basically a relay service to wholesale distributors around the country. I was able to trace some shipments back to a wholesaler in the Bronx. The real shining star here is the site. It’s excellent, even if just for research.
About 5 years ago I was off on my count for a brake job order, and they actually called me to ask if that’s what I actually wanted. Saved much grief.

Agreed. I often use their site to find part numbers, then go to Amazon to find them and (usually) order them. I usually buy from Amazon even though they might be a few bucks more because A: cheaper shipping, and B: if you order multiple items from Rock Auto, some times they come from multiple warehouses and you have to pay shipping on each package.

Rock Auto is useful for lower prices and they carry top of the line brake parts along with CHEAP. My local parts store thinks everyone wants CHEAP and I have to order top of the line brake parts in. Sometimes my local store doesn't carry the brand I want like 4Seasons compressors. Rock Auto is more expensive for them than brand X at local store.

Anyone can screw up parts giving you the wrong ones, out of spec, and screwed up Communist knock offs.

End of the day I have saved a lot of money by using them. I am careful of what I buy with filters being more important than anything else for the best no matter the cost. I have to order filters online due to local stores carrying garbarage and I suggested Geno's carry some of the best for my 3rd gen that they haven't carried.

JD, what were the filters you asked Genos to add to their lineup?

Good point about the vast quality of parts Rock carries. Been having good luck with Centric and the local chains don’t want to hear about it.

The rear Frame mounted filter is NOT critical, Water separating filters do not work with todays fuel, Unless you plan on crawling under that truck weekly to drain its not effective. The engine Mounted Filter (6.7) the critical filter, Buy the best for that.. these are 3 week old filters pictured.

The only spin-on company I trust is Zinga, unfortunately their filters require Auxiliary/Transfer application they cannot be used in direct Injection filters.

100% of the filters that are popular are designed to filter fuel, they will NOT stop contamination, BIG differences in design and material to stop contamination VS filtering.

The rear-mounted filter does more than separate water. It also filters. Actually both fron & rear do some of each ....separate water & filter particulates.

Correct me if I am wrong about that
