rock rails

This might sound stupid, but how many of you guys have put rock rails on you trucks? I know a QC long bed isn't ideal for rock crawling but with the mountains in my area it's all rocks. Just wondering how many of you run rock rails and how you made them and attached them to the truck. I've seen some that bolt to the frame and some that are welded to the frame. What's your take on welding to these frames?
