Hello, today I installed the steering column bushing. The bushing took care of the clunk I felt in the wheel but the steering is now stiff and sticky as if it's too tight. Does this bushing need time to break itself in? Installation went fine and I greesed the steering shaft and inner diameter of the bushing. Anyone else have this issue? I tried to call David but his "mailbox was full" . Any suggestions? Thanks Anthony

Mine was stiff at installation a couple of months ago, so much so at first I thought it was installed wrong and binding, in about 3 weeks it loosened up and is fine now, I'd recommend giving it a little time to loosen up depending on how much you drive your truck

LBARTLETT, I see the Borgeson shaft in your sig. Did you notice any benefit from the install of it? I have heard mixed reviews, not about the quality, but about any benefit seen changing from stock to Borgeson. Thanks

David at rock solid steering bushing wasn't too high on them but I already had it in hand so I did the bushing and the new shaft at the same time. I have put them on 2 1st gens and 3 other 2nd gens, I would say they have always helped some and the quality of the Borgensen over stock is unreal, then major change on this truck was when I changed sway bar bushings and end links which I had never done before but I've never had an 8 year old 2nd gen cummins w/180k on it, the rubber on the bushings and end links was shot, my truck has absolutely no wander and steers better than it did new but it came at a $$$$ cost

on a 1st gen I'd certainly recommend the Borgensen, on a 2nd gen with a limited budget I'd try other things 1st and I know there are mixed reviews but the quality is certainly good on their product.

The bushings can be pretty tight. I screwed up my first one (waay too tight) and then pulled the column and changed it out again using a more hand fitting approach... . still took a week of winding trail/roads in Colorado to get it loosened up to pretty much just fine... .

Guys, are you talking about the bushing at the bottom of the column? If so, is there a link or article on how to replace? I had thought about replacing the whole column, then I'd also get the steering shaft (which mine needs).
