Isn't it ironic?

Send a PM to Grizzly with a link to this thread, I know he will be glad to look it up for you in his RV bible/guide thingy.

Of course the resident RV GOD!!! will think its APOS but thats pretty much the norm for OZ. Have seen plenty of them around the campgrounds good luck. Any takers on the first part of the post whats the odds in Vegas :-laf

A Rockwood is a cheapo. Rockwood is only the model like Chevrolet is to GM. What's the name of the manufacturer? It's on the VIN tag.

Ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAS THERE EVER A QUESTION OF WHAT WAS TO BE SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST LIKE THE COLOR OF I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER YA KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE BROWN :-laf

I fiqured this was gonna happen!

But I would rather be able to make an informed decision... .

Our Lance is tight quarters and we are just starting our search.

I am also throwing around the idea of getting an 8-12ft enclosed trailer too haul our camp stuff and wood instead of ruining the interior of the truck. .

We are looking for something to go camping in ourselves. We dont need anything big its just the wife and I and we are looking at a pop up tent trailer. We would only be able to use it during the nicer parts of the year. I dont care what you have in the winter at - what ever degree im not going to camp in a refrigerator of ANY KIND we would be better off in a tent with a wood stove and have done that!!! Sorry for BASHING on your post but some one has to say it he's out of control (that would be assuming he ever was)

Saw this for sale. 2005 25ft Rockwood 5th wheel. .

Can anyone tell me about its build quality?

And as we have discussed before, the quality can be lower than the high end units if it is just a vacation/weekender and you are not trying to tow it 3,000 miles at a time.

You just have to keep an eye on the running gear, water leaks and structure.

I tinker a bit on mine every summer and have gotten a very happy 7 years out of it so far.

I am going to upgrade it to LED running lights, would like to do it before fair time but may not make it. I will document the conversion so you can all witness me hacking (4) 2" x 6" oval holes in the rear panel..... also going to add LED mid-turn lights... :D

Its a gonna' be nice!!

It's sitting out back here right now ready to go to the coast as soon as the wife arrives. :D

Mike,

Sometimes you can install adapters in your OEM taillights to convert them to LED. Or simply install another inexpensive surface mount LED lamp to replace the OEM lights.

I installed LED taillights on my HitchHiker using surface mount LED lamp bodies.

I have been considering the premade boxes, use them on the truck bodies that we work on. But I think that I can cut the outer panel on the rear and flush mount the lights using the rubber grommets. One of my few projects this weekend (other than resting up) is to pull out a couple of drawers and the water pump cover under the rear cabinets to see if my theory is correct. If it does not look feasible then I will order up the box mounts.
I hate these cheapo RV tail lights that are on it now, fill right up with dirt and gunk. I have to take them apart once a year and clean the inside of the lenses as they get dim from the film building up on them.
Not to mention that the rear marker dim about halfway everytime that you step on the brake or use the four ways as I am sure one of the scotch lock installers at the plant only got half a ground connection somewhere... . the LED lights will cure that issue without having to tear the trailer half apart to find it.
The mid turn signals will give me a little piece of mind in heavy traffic, even if I get smacked I'll know that I at least tried... ... :D

I tried the LED adapters IMO dont waste your time. I ended up getting the chrome truck boxes and got them mounted up with the LED truck lite lamps. Best investment I had made on the TT for saftey. Did that in 04 just after we bought the trailer never did have any go out.

Forest River's trailers are barely acceptable, and then only if you don't expect too much in the long run.

Jeepit, you and I have discussed Rockwood, by Forest River, back and forth on PM's. As you know now, Forest River is not the best choice. In the size and price range of a Rockwood, there are a few good 3. 5 and 4 star rated 5er. My advise is keep looking and send me the make and model, by PM, and I'll tell you how it's rated on RV Consumer Guide.

For anyone searching for an RV my best advise is to purchase a copy of the RV Consumer Guide. It's loaded with help information. In addition to the RV's to avoid and the brands to consider, it includes a book on getting the best deal from a dealer, plus much more helpful information. When making a large investment, the RV Consumer Guide is the best tool to have in your back pocket.
