I had a cracked #4 injector line today. It stranded me right in the Dodge dealers lot. Actually it popped out on the road in front so I pulled in figuring if I couldn't fix it, thats where it was going anyway:rolleyes:

I called the RMC emergency line, they sent a parts guy in, they had the part and I got a ride up to get it. The parts guy Steve was great, even dropped the call charge from $75 to $50 for me. The line was under $25.

I had the #4 injector replaced at the dealer this winter. When I went to remove the damaged line there were clearly wrench marks on the old nut. I know I have never had any reason to mess with it so it looks to me like one of their techs messed it up.

One thing that was very noticable was that the bracket on the line was very loose. I would guess there is a fair amount of vibration these lines experience with all that pressure in there. Definately could have contributed. The truck has just over 100k miles on it.

Other than a puddle of diesel from when it died on the lot, I was in and out of there before having to send it back to the service dept:D I am sure there was no way I could have had them fix it for less than the $75 it took today, and it would have been a little embarrassing to have to explain why I wanted to fix it myself on their lot:eek:

So Rocky Mtn Cummins in Grand Junction saved me. Good price, awesome service, even on a Sunday afternoon.
