I recently bought my 96'. I took it to the local Cummins repair shop for the valves to be adjusted. I asked for a ride to the local mall to wait for the wife. They looked for the older flatbed Dodge to take me. It was already checked out by tech unknown. No choice but to take me in the brand new 2003 Dodge Cummins. The three trucks just got in this morning. Three Cummins reps are driving them around the country getting out all the kinks. One of the reps is towing a trailer with a Duramax tied down to it.
It was only a 4mile route with no freeway driving. The truck is very quiet. Amazingly quiet. Sitting at a light is just barely louder than a gasser. This truck was equipped with leather, four doors, pwr everything and electronic 4WD. The AC works great. I did take a look under the hood. I'm just barely familiar with what's under the hood of my 12V. The new truck was way different than mine. With the hood up the sound gives away it's a diesel. I was surprised the hood has no soundproofing. I'm glad I didn't drive this before buying my older Cummins. I might've waited.
