I guess I might take heat and ridicule regarding the DR Performance Stage III box but I'm posting my impressions on this combo anyway for those might find them interesting.

I've been running the RokkTech 2 degree advanced timing sensor for about 3 weeks and have noticed an improvment in idle smoothness and low end power. I've been all over the board with driving habits so I can't comment on the fuel economy.

I got the DR Perf Stage III (#2018) today and installed it. Started the truck and it idled just fine -- same as with the RokkTech sensor alone.

How I Drive: I drive 100% flatland in S. Florida, no towing and no load. I probably shift between 1800 and 2000 rpm's in normal driving and really don't push it. What hard core HP junkies would say is a waste I guess.

Impressions: Anyway, I drove around and right away noticed great low end right off idle. Having the 6 speed it's GREAT FUN to go through the gears with this combo. You get power right off the mark. It's pretty amazing. Not peaky and you don't have to wait for the turbo to spool up. Very little pedal pressure is necessary. It's really satisfying to drive.

(Removed comments about fuel economy on overhead as JCleary states it's meaningless)

I'll report back later. No matter how you feel about pressure only boxes and which brands / models you like or don't like, my initial impression is stacking a fixed 2 degree advancement with pressure seems to be a very nice combo.....

Your pressure box (heck, any box except something that does timing only) will throw the overhead off. The ecm does not know about the additional fuel your motor is consuming...

Also, keep an ear open for intermittant ticks and knocks in the valve area. Pressure boxes crack injector bodies. I am pretty sure atleast 1 of mine are cracked, probobly more. Need to upgrade injectors so I pull those out. Talked to Dynomite Diesel 2 days ago and I guess they found 3 on one guys truck. When I upgrade injectors I am pullling off my pressure box.

Is it inevitable?

Hmm..... Does everyone running a pressure box inevitably crack their injectors? Can driving habits make a difference? Thanks.

Possibly. I am still on the learning curve on this one. I think there are certain boxes that are riskier than others. I think it all depends on how high they ramp up the pressure, and if they are only going as high as they say.
