I filled up Friday and Saturday noticed a small puddle of diesel fuel on the floor under the fuel tank. I pulled the inner fender liner out and looked at the top of the tank and I believe the fuel came from the roll-over fitting on top of the sending unit module. There is no hose attached to the barbed fitting and I can find no hose in the frame that may have come off.

Is there supposed to be a hose on that fitting; if so where does it end up?

If there is no hose, could dirt have got in the fitting and caused the valve to burp some fuel out when I topped off the tank?

Would I damage anything if I shot some Sea Foam or carb cleaner in the fitting to flush out any dirt in the valve?

I had fuel run out of the vent fitting a couple of times while fueling up. I put a hose on the fitting and ran it up to the bottom of the bed. Then I put a small engine fuel filter, with barbed end, in the end of the hose. Seems to have solved the problem, plus, doesn't let dirt into the end of the rollover/vent valve or whatever it is.

Hose

I put a hose on the fitting and ran it over the front of the spring where I can see if that's where it comes from. The fuel sending assembly seems tight, so the next place to look is the top of the tank. My son had a Chevy that rubbed a small hole on top. Brake cleaner and some epoxy for plastic fixed it.

I'll know more next fill up.
