Ok guys and gals question, I know you can get into big trouble for rollling back your odometer, back can you get into the same trouble for rolling it forward? The reason I ask is because my speedo was not working for about 10k miles and instead of me trying to remember to add 10k everytime I need to do maint. I was going to roll it forward.

roll ahead

I don't think correcting your odometer is illegal. Rolling it back is commiting fraud. So would leaving it as is if you attempted to sell or trade the truck without telling the new owner about the discrepancy.

Many states require you to sign an affadavit attesting to the true mileage on your vehicle when transferring ownership.

You need a special computer to reprogram the odometer. Ive seen then up on ebay before but they are pricey. Well who cares about the law as long as your not hurting anyone else or screwing someone them there should be no law against it
