Anyone have experience with Sumo Springs instead of Timbren

Thought I knew everything about this truck. Fun fact!

My 03 QC leaks from the sun visor hooks every time it rains. Also, the floor under the rear seats is damp to the touch. When I first got it in March and discovered the leak my first thought was the cab lights so I went out and got some clear silicone and re-sealed all the gaskets and screw holes. It certainly made a difference but I still have the leak. All I can think of is there must be some sort of crack in one or more of the lenses. Unless there's another place water can get in up there? I checked the 3rd brake light and everything appears dry up there. I've seen where the newer trucks have a problem with the rear window leaking which may be my rear floor issue but that doesn't answer why it leaks from the visor hooks. Is there any other place where water can get in under the headliner?

Anybody have any advice?

I have noticed water dripping from the driver's side visor hook, but only on two occasions (I've only owned it for the last three years). I have not had the courage to try removing the headliner to see yet. In my case, it hasn't gotten down to the carpet, so it's not a priority for me yet. Come on, guys, chime in.

Both leaks you have are indicative of the cab roof lights and base seals leaking and the gasket on the third brake light shrinking up and leaking. The windshield is a glue set installation, they can leak if the windshield was replaced and poorly installed. My bet on the front leak is the cab lights. You may have to remove all of them and really your best bet if any look marginal is to replace all of them with new ones with new base gaskets. I, personally, have never been a fan of cab roof lights and sliding sun roofs for just that reason. They both are a potential for rust out and water leaks.

I ordered a set of replacement lenses... we'll see if that solves the problem even though I thoroughly siliconed them already.

I have an 03 also did the same thing was the roof lights. Make sure the new ones are the upgrade and not the same small round O ring like the old ones.

If the new marker lights do not cure the problem I would drop the headliner to increase visibility and put a hose to the roof and windshield. Dropping the headliner is not as scary as one would think.

You might even be able to see if you remove the overhead console.....

I am making the following assumptions....

(1) You are fairly mechanically inclined....
(2) You could tie the truck up for a day or two...

I've seen our Body Shop spend a couple of days hunting for water leaks on big trucks before, sometimes there is more than one leak.

They are the new style with the full rubber gasket.

Can't see anything by removing the console because of the mounting bracket. The headliner needs to be dropped for that.

If you do elect to drop the headliner let me know....there are a couple of plastic fasteners you will want on hand.

Also when I dropped the headliner in my Megacab I did NOT take it out of the truck. I reclined both front seats and let it lay on the seatbacks. I was installing a rear overhead DVD player but the method should work for you just the same.

The only safe way to get the headliner all the way out is to remove the w/shield.Most of us just drop it and rest on the seat backs when ever it is possible.Gaps in the sealant along the roof panel can also be an issue.Testing for water leaks and visibly finding the tracks are the only way you can also verify your repair with 100 percent accuracy.

Yes, that is what I should have written was drop, not remove. Changing the word "remove" to "drop" in my posts above...

I knew that Megacab headliner wasn't leaving the inside of the truck short of folding it right in half......
