Howdy all, I am looking for suggestions on DVD/TVs. Been to several local shops, all said CUSTOM which means lots of $$ and no guarantee on looks. TIA John

Look in my readers rigs pics. I have two or three pictures of a clarion DVD mounted on the ceiling. Cost around $700.

Thanks PGoble, looks great. Where did you get it? Who installed it? How difficult was it to install? If you have any other close up pics, I'd sure like to see them. Thanks again. John

I bought the DVD player and TV on EBay, then had one the local stereo shops install it. I paid around $600 for both the DVD player and TV, and the install cost around $100.

I really like the EGT guage there. Was that hard to do?I think that would be ideal with a single boost gauge on the pillar. BTW reply is to PGoble

PGoble, did you loose the use of the steering wheel controls with the stereo upgrade? Did you use the infinity speakers/amps. I like your audio/video setup.

It wasn't hard at all. I moved the cigarrette lighter over to the right hand side of the radio (it works better over there for a radar detector anyway), and then used a dremel to enlarge the hole on the left side until my EGT gauge fit there. Wiring was easier than the pillars I have done in the past. Lots of room to work since the entire trim piece can be removed. FYI, I put my boost, fuel pressure, and airbag gauges on the floor where the pen holder used to be, that way I don't have to look at them unless I want to. Should be some pics in the readers rigs. Hope that helps.

Thank you, I am very happy with the combination. I set it up that way so that my kids could watch TV/DVD in the back seat (with supplied wireless headsets), and I can listen to the radio, a CD, or even watch a different DVD up front. The system is very flexible, either DVD player can be played through the truck speakers, or switched over to the wireless headsets. I did lose the function of the steering wheels controls because my particular radio does not have an input for axillary controls. You might shop around because I know some of the aftermarket radios are compatible with steering wheel controls.

I am using my stock infinity speakers. I looked into upgrading them, but was advised that they are extremely good quality and I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them and the JL Audio one's that I was looking at, except at extremely high volume levels. I am more than happy with the performance of the stock speakers. I at one time considered adding a subwoofer, but the stock speakers perform well enough that I left the subwoofer out of the mix.

There are multiple close-up pics in my readers rigs album. If you are looking for something specific, pm me and I will try to get a pic for you.

Peter,

Did you manufacture the gauge "pod" where the pencil holder is or it available somewhere?

I manufactured it myself, then had it powdercoated flat black to match the cupholders. I think I have one or two left that are not powedercoated if you are interested. They cost me around $75 to make, and I would sell them for cost. If you are interested, send me a pm.
