I have a Laramie 4x4 with heated seats and was wondering if there is room between the heated seat switches, where the 2 dummy switch plates are, to mount a gauge. I have pretty well settled on the dual column mount for the pyro and boost, but want to also have a transmission temp gauge.

Has anyone dived into this part of the dash? I know I'll break something if I try to investigate myself. :(

It's not hard to get in there. Just remove the screw under the passenger-side hook thingy, and gently-but-firmly pull the entire center bezel out from the dash. Should be no problem to look in there and see if there's room.

I have been hoping for an X-monitor plate for that spot. I have a little cubby there.

I'd like to use those dummy's for real...

I wonder if theres any switches that would fit where the dummy's are in that area when you have heated seats?

Sorry for straying off topic but I think it would be great to use those fake rockers for switches for lights on the truck.

Scotty... the other one... EH. :D

Gauges

I would in stall the X-Monitor on the window pillar. It is a very clean installation. That looks good and works better than anything I have seen out there on the market. I am always having people ask me about it. Most people think it is factory standrad equipment, that is because I had it painted the color of the pillar.

I started to mount some Dipricols in there but I couldn't read them. I ended up with a pillar mount.

I agree that it is not an optimum location, but I don't think that I will need to look at the transmission temperature as often as the other gauges. Generally you know when the transmission is being taxed, and a glance should tell the tale. It should be possible to make an angled bezel to point the gauge in the drivers general direction for improved viewing.

If I don't go with a gauge, it would be nice to have matching switches for Aux lights.
