Rotella T Synthetic 5 W 40

I just saw Rotella T 5W40 Full Synthetic at Walmart.

Is it safe to use in or trucks. The rating is CH/4and Cummins approved #20076 but it does not include # 20071 like the regular Rotella does.

Thanks TJ

I know a couple guys who are using the Rotella synthetic blend. Either way, let it loose at 3000 miles. Synthetic companies keep talking about jet engines when they push their oil. Jet engines do not have any relation between lubrication and combustion like a piston engine does. It just sounds nice. So did Hitler's propaganda at the time to the fellow Germans. Say the right things to the masses and they will flock to you.

Yes, you can safely run this oil in your engine.

IMO, given your location, I would run a 15w40 year round. I don't think the Rotella 5w40 will offer any better protection in your engine than the Rotalla 15w40.

Thanks for the info Guys,

So your saying I should change the oil at 3000 miles w/ Rotella syntheitc thats where I dump the Dinosaur Rotella. Also will check out Amsoil Synthetic in 15W40

TJ,

I think Chris is confusing their synthetic blend with Shell's new Rotella 5w40 synthetic. As you know the Rotella 5w40 is very new to the market.

With the new 5w40 I don't think you will need to dump as soon as dino oil, but oil analysis will let you know that for sure. I would assume you could run this 10,000-15,000 miles w/o any problems. If you do decide to run this oil make sure you have an oil analyis where they test TBN. This is a very important number when helping to determine how long to run the oil.

As far as comparing the Rotella 5w40 to Amsoil, keep in mind that it is not comparing apples to apples. The Rotella isn't in the same class of synthetics as the Amsoil.
