Hi Guys,

First time buying Rotella T (or any engine oil for that matter---I'm a new CTD owner).

Anyway, I noticed that the gallon jug simply says, "Rotella T heavy duty engine oil, SAE 15w-40. No where did it say diesel engine oil. That was my only concern. I think this is the right stuff, just wanted to confirm.

Thanks!

If im not mistaken read the back of the jug it will specifically say recommended for Cummins engines, Road tractors have been using shell Rotella T for many years and me personally is the only thing i will use in my Cummins engine and my Farm tractor, its a very good quality oil. As some have said it gives off a certain smell after a fresh oil change on our trucks, i like the smell so it doesn't bother me, basically all its the crankcase vent tube where the smell comes from.

By the way its cheaper to buy it by the gallon(case of it at a time) if you can... Oo.

It did mention diesel on the back of the jug, but it was more like a footnote; I'm still wanting to be sure...

I use rotela t all the time its all i use. If you look at the back of a gallon jug it should say in the first or second line of the paragraph. All the jugs iv seen say it is recamended for commins.

The important thing is the API rating. Look in your owner's manual and it will tell the rating and the rec. weight. There is a circular stamp on the back of the jug that will say: API service CH-4, CG-4 etc etc. The one you want is the CH-4, although that has been replaced by CJ-4. They are, however backwards compatible. I'm looking at a jug of Delvac 1 and it lists the above and additionally indicates it is good for Mack; Cummins;Detroit Diesel. Lots of people use Rotella, lots use Delo 400 15W40. It is all good oil. The Delvac 1 I use is for the boat engine, as I change it only once a year.

Good luck,

Ian

Be Happy with Rotella

I've been using Rotella T for nigh on 40 years. Used it in that old '82 Chevette diesel and at work in our Cummins LI600's generator sets, Cats, IHCs, etc. Delo is just as good, but we didn't have it on contract. Rotella T is all I use in my '99. Thought about using it in my '69 Corvair because its heat handling, but I'll probably stick with Syntech for that thing, and I have heard of folks using it in their diesels. I'll stick with what I know works.

Rottella T is for me

I've use this oil in my truckfor 2 years with changes on the average of 5,000 miles.
