For you guys who use Rotella synthetic oil, how much do you pay for it per gallon from Wall Mart or where ever you get it? Up here it is 17 bucks a gallon.

I bought some last Nov (2006), I think I paid about 18. ?? for a gallon at local Walmart on the expensive side of town.

You think the extra cost is worth it?

I use the standard Rotella oil and change it every 3000 miles if its city driving or 5000 long distance driving. Lately my truck just sits in the garage waiting for me. I guess that old age because when I was young the truck never sat in the garage. The fuel filter I change every 15000 miles and have done with the last 4 trucks I have owned. Never had a problem.

I buy it by the 5 gallon jug. It's $42 a gallon, or $27 for a 2. 5 gallon jug. . quite a bit of difference in price! I will not run synthetic, and change my oil faithfully every 2500-3000 miles in both trucks. When I drove a 379 Pete with 670,000 miles on a 3406E, we changed the oil every 10,000 miles, instead of 15,000. . It did not smoke at all, and oil analysis was very good. IMO, I think the extra cost is not worth it...
