Brake Rotors

Well, when the Server's Search Engine finishes up in about 5 or 6 days, you can search for the one posted a couple weeks ago.

Forgot who did it, but they posted about installing cross drilled, slotted and vented rotors that I believe are available from AutoZone.

Report was the stopping power was unbelievably good. That is what I am going to do when I next need to pull the front hubs down.

One example attached, but not the one I remember.

Okay, I wouldn't do this for just anyone....

The search engine is busy..... so, I did it the old school way. Dig it out.

Here is the info:

I went with a set of rotors and pads from preformance plus (www.performanceplusbrakes.com) I got a set of cross drilled and slotted rotors and a pair of kevlar lined pads all for under $300

Ive had them on for about 500 miles so far and am very pleased with the stopping power. I do alot of hill decents with trailers and they really help slow things down.

And, just to show you TDR works, here are the ones for your truck/model.

I just called Performance Plus Brakes and they gave me a price of $388. 51 for a pair of rotors to fit my 94 2wd 2500. As I recall, Glen at EGR gave me a price of $320 for the gas slotted rotors (no cross drilling which adversely affects the structural integrity).

I can tell you who to avoid.

EBC & Brakes-R-Us.

Lousy customer service. Bad product.

And I speak from my experience with them.

I bought EBC slotted dimppled rotors from Tire Rack.com ($150. 00 a pair) I went with PFC carbon matalic pads from Autozone for $40 to $50 a set ( I forgot exactly) Great setup I tow a 14k 5ver and they work great

I'm going to be the test dummy for these guys:

I should have them by the 21st of this month (I hope at least... his cryo process takes a quite a while to complete). I helped a friend put a set on his F250 and the change in braking was unreal (his brakes we replaced were almost brand new at the time). I'm the first Dodge they've ever done, and I told him I'd let you guys know what I think about them... they're big into the Fords, but haven't touched a DC project until now.

$386. 60, before shipping.

Well i have power slots on my race car, but i don't see that they list them for the 2000 ram , only up to 98 . does anyone know if they will fit the 2k rams?

The other place has black and silver rotors, but i don't like it because they are dimpeld, easily cracked.

I just want a sloted front rotors set that would fit my 2000 :( . .

The reason for a dimple vrs drilled is so they won't crack. The dimple is only as deep as the minimum rotor thickness is allowed to be turned down to.

Drilling reduces the strength of a rotor. I had a brand name that was drilled and cracked on the outer holes.

Brad

The majority of "cross-drilled" rotors, aren't! Most rotors that have holes in them are actually cast that way... this leads to a stronger system than drilling (ie, not as bad of a stress concentration, but still there none-the-less), but it's still not good, ESPECIALLY in our heavy duty application.

Slotted and forget about it. Cryo if you want to try something different... I think they'll be great... the Ford guys think so.
