Intermittent Rough Idle

My 2005 started idling rough itermittently {couple times a week}about a month ago. Most times it would spudder for a few minutes and clear up. Now it runs poorly for longer periods and it is sometimes hard to crank. No check lights no smoke just feels like it droped a Cyl. No mods. 95,000 miles. So far I have tried new fuel filter. Could it be FCA, Injector Harness or Injector???

Unfortunately a number of things can cause the problem... CR rough idle problems are link to FCA<PRV<Injectors<Wiring<Sensor(s)... Your choices are Change parts or take to shop and be charged Diagnostic time. In most cases if you are capable throwing parts is more profitable... the hard start is what concerns me the most it generally relate to injectors. .

Yes... ... CR do NOT conform to logic... When it come to repairs on CR applying logic (Common logic) will just make things worst... What concerns Me is the cranking... Generally long cranks are related to Injector(s)

Sunday it started quickly but was skipping. After about 3 miles it cleared up and ran fine the rest of the day 80 miles. Shut it down 3 times longest was about 4 hours no problems. Monday morning very hard to start 4 attemps. Skipped for about 20 sec. ran fine all day. Tuesday morning started like new no skip. Still no engine light.

Again... 2 choices Shop or start replacing Parts... . Their is NO EASY (THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM... . ) The forums are not able to correct by keystrokes. . Do a search you will find 1000s of threads on the subject... Most of the time the OP never reports the fix... I have no glue why most OP do not close thread out with the fix... .

Mine has done this since it hit around 80K. I pretty much ignore it now 102K. As long as im not getting long cranks, smoke, codes, and fuel in my crank case i'm not going to worry about it. ;)

Been on two long hauls with it like this too.

Like yours mine is bone stock!!!!

Mac:cool:

I did the wire inspection around the AC (worn but not worn through) and wire loom for protection. If it acts up again I will start with the FCA. I was hoping for a pinpoint fix instead of a handgrenade solution. TC I will call you for the FCA if it gets to that point. Thanks

Just an update on my problem. The bad idle was a three to four times a week occurance. I had my batteries load tested and one would not complete the test and the other was at 450CCA. It has been three weeks and the truck has run perfectly with the new batteries.

Help needed & New update Last week my truck went back to the hard start skippy idle. It has been running fine since the battery replacement in September. I replaced the FCA and no change. It is very hard to start. Also I disconected the FCA and it will start up quickly but will run with more of a sparknok sound. Plug the FCA back up and hard starting. Help.
