Rough Idle

My '06 has almost 15000 miles on it.

Have noticed a roughness in the idle lately - but only on initial startup.

After running a little, seems to go away.



Also, has never started on 1st revolution like my '99 did.

Turns over 5-6 times before firing.



Any ideas?

Have you changed out your fuel filter yet, I know mine at 10K was pretty black looking, have you noticed any white smoke at start up also I believe the 3rd Gens take a little longer to fire on start up compared to previous years.

I can't help you on the rough idle. Mine does it occasionally, but it goes away after a day or two.



As for not starting on the 1st rev... here is my understanding, based on what I've learned on TDR.



The 3rd Gen trucks don't have a true injection pump. The CP3 is a high-pressure fuel pump. It will take a couple of revs for it to develop enough pressure in the common rail. The computer will not fire the injector until it detects sufficient pressure in the rail.
