My 99 4WD rides rough. My wife says its like riding in a washing machine and I agree. I put a set of adjustable Rancho shocks on, but I think it is rougher than it was.

I'm considering replacing the rear shocks with the KORE recommended Bilstien 5100 to see if that will help. What about removing the overload springs in the rear. I have the "camper" option. Is that a big job?

ctopp,

The KORE shocks will perform better than others you can get, but your ride will still be rough - this is a result of the springs as much as the shocks.

If you really want a plusher ride, get the KORE springs too. You'll be amazed at the difference. Front coils work GREAT, and the rear overload springs can be removed with addition of the KORE mini-packs. Slowing for speed bumps is a thing of the past.

The combination of KORE springs front and rear gave me a VERY nice ride. I'm guessing that my total load capacity is lessened somewhat - I don't have any idea how much actual reduction - but I've still towed more than 7000 pounds (vehicle trailer with a Chevy 1500), and the rear of my truck didn't sag as much as I thought it would. Others may be able to give you better ideas about the load capacity.

I recommend KORE - shocks AND springs.

Hope this helps,

John

The Bilstein 5100's are good shocks, but there are better... from KORE or others. I have Fox 2. 0 res. shocks on the rear and they are awesome. Setup and valving by thuren fabrication; I'de recommend him to anyone. The springs are just as important; I went to Alcan and had custom leafs built to eliminate the lift blocks and keep the 3/4 ton rating (which keeps things a little stiff). If I could get the front to equal the rear, I'de be set. Less than $2bones/each for the shocks and $3bones/each for the springs.

Are you letting the air pressure down in the rears when empty. Try 55 to 60 in the front and 42 to 45 in the rear. SNOKING

JJ,

I spoke w/ KORE and they recommend the Pace system for my application, mostly highway with light/medium loads. Thanks for the input.
