Rough spot In RPM range

Raise rpm's SLOWLY from 1600 to about 1950(in Park) it gets rough like somethings out of balance?Then smothes out as rpm"s go up. It has done this sence new. Is this common for this engine. Check yours let me know.

Steve, I have never raised the rpms above 1200 or so while
in neutral. Read in the manual[I think] that is was not good
and could cause serious damage to engine if did so.
I don't know how it reacts at higher rpms in neutral.

I have ran it to the end of the govener while driving, and it
seem to start running funny or missing or something then.

Might want to check on running it so high without a load
on the engine. Diesel aren't made for this purpose I believe.

Do a seach for "overflow valve" this may be your problem.

Running a cold engine at 1200 or more is bad. When warm you should be able to rev it over that safely in neutral.
