Fuel Pressure Gauge

coolant reservoir lower

1. Does my 2005 have a VP44? If so, where is it in relationship to the fuel filter?

2. Is this much rust normal for a week old truck driven in a light rain once and will it hurt anything/should I treat it somehow, etc?

#ad

3. What is this connector that is completely exposed to the elements behind the driver side front tire?

#ad

4. Why is there a huge gap in the front of the truck that leaves the condensor and the intercooler exposed and what are the options for protecting it besides buying a billet insert?

Thanks in advance.

Q1 if your transmission is a manual it is probably made of cast along with your driveshafts manual or auto. with cast it rusts to prevent the rest of it from corroding. Even looking at my exhaust manifolt it has rusted from new. As long as you are not able to flake off pieces you should be fine

You don't have a VP44-- those ended after 2002. You have a CP3.

The rust is nothing to worry about. It will get worse, then it will not progress any more.

Can't help you with the connector-- I don't have it.

There are Condenser Guards available from Kilby Enterprises (the onboard air guys).

That connector is for dang near everything (just kidding) it's for brake, turn, backup, etc for the bedend of the truck.

I had my driveshaft painted black when I got it balanced. Now besides being all purty underneath, the truck runs a lot smoother too!!

As far as the gap in the front, I'm not real familiar with 3rd Gen trucks, but might that gap not be for airflow to provide more COOLING for the condenser and intercooler?

The big gap is the crumple zone... ... ... . The frame will absorb more energy so your body doesn't have to :D

Could you put some screen in there to block stones and bugs? I need to do that too, attaching to the inside of the grill. It does seem kind of rediculous that all those fragile fins are exposed to crap at 65-70 mph or more.

I recognized that thing imedeatly and was honestly suprised. My '95 has a similar connection in the same place, does the same thing. In 11 years of commercial sercive and 306K miles in the salt belt, Its as good as new.

(for the record I was in high skool and didnt even have a licence when this truck went on the road... )

*never paid any 'tension to the '98. Its probly there too*

I wouldnt worry about the elements getting to it. ;)
