Has any body used this synthetic fluid in their trucks. If so any thoughts or recommendations for say diffs. and transfer case (man. shift)

I use Royal Purple 75W-90 in the front diff, and 80W-140 in the rear of my 1996. I also use their PS fluid. No problems with any. Because my trans is a NV-4500, I use the Castrol Syntorq in it.

I use 15W40 in the engine, synchromax in the trans and 80W140 in the axle. Been in for a long time now, I wouldnt use anything else.

JJoiner,

I only use royal purple, I saw on the weekend hot rod show where they did temp and dyno before and after (with reg fluid then with R/P synthetic) and not only was temp decreased but it freed up 24 RWHP per their dyno test.

Royal Purple should be good most anywhere except I'd shy away from putting it in the NV5600 due to its low viscosity (Vis = 7. 7@ 100C compared to 10. 6 for Redline MTL). It would probably be fine for daily driving but not for towing very heavy. Hotshotter LivinEZ on NW Bombers had it in his '04. 5 and destroyed the lube in short order http://www.nwbombers.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15057&hl=royal

Wow, I'm not trying to talk anyone into putting anything other than recommended fluid in their trans but I can say that mine shifts like BUTTER and my trans temps have constantly been lower then with the recommended fluid. Something else had to be up there, I have a VERY heavy trailer and no hints of problems. Everyone should use what they are comfortable with but for me the synchromax was the best thing since sliced bread (smooth shifts)

He did have transmission trouble which probably wasn't the fault of the oil. The transmission wiped out several months later. But between the RP, Amsoil and OEM recommended lube he had the worst luck with the RP. So just sort of a heads-up I guess.

I used the stuff "RP" in my last truck and never had any troubles with it. Infact my dad said from start up that the truck sounded better and quiter and I could feel a differance. I just switched over this last weekend and went through the whole drive train and all and all I think RP really good stuff. I got 90% of the RP from a Fellow TDR'r, he went with AMSOIL the last minute and I bought what he had, but bought the rest from RPMoils.com and they have really good price's and free shipping... I compared the price's of the stuff that they have at Wal-Mart, Auto Zone, Napa, and Checker Auto Parts, and for what you get at RPM oils, you can't go wrong... . Hope this helps
